Heroic anti-NATO protestors have struck a blow for the oppressed people of the world by striking at a heavily defended military target:

Bleeped texting Scum.

If anyone wants to make a donation to replace the Evil Capitalist Militaristic Oppressive NATO Minibus, there is apparently a charity page up and running. I'll provide the link when I've got it.

The People's Heroes' statement: link

Uniforms and underage "military" training just yank some people's chains. I hope they are apprehended and prosecuted….

Garand04 Sep 2014 8:01 p.m. PST

For a second I thought this was a satire site!

When groups gather the strangest things can happen.

Indeed. I think that their statement was written by a collaboration of 'Rik' and 'Student Grant'.

If I caught a crusty juggler doing the same to our minibus they'd need the country's finest surgeons and a three-week stay in hospital to have the rolled-up copy of Margaret Thatcher's personal manifesto removed from their rectum.

skippy000104 Sep 2014 8:15 p.m. PST

The Comintern is alive and well.

Jamesonsafari04 Sep 2014 9:20 p.m. PST

Yup, real blow to the military-industrial complex, keeping a bunch of kids from participating in adventure and leadership training.

Words cannot express how deeply I despise these Bleeped textes.

David Manley04 Sep 2014 10:09 p.m. PST

I think a fair number of people would like to strike a blow against mindless idiots who perpetrate things like this. What a bunch of big Bleeped texting heroes.

McWong7305 Sep 2014 2:56 a.m. PST

That is hilarious! The photo of the kids is priceless.

Bede1902505 Sep 2014 5:03 a.m. PST

They should be sent to Ukraine where they can be subjected to Putin's tender mercies. Let them try to protest there.

Guinny05 Sep 2014 5:35 a.m. PST

Wow – what a brave strike against this terrible oppressive regime! How did they summon up the courage to attack such a potent symbol of authority?

Bleeped texts.

Don't you have any Starbucks over there? That's their usual first target here.

Gotta love it. We recently had one of the occupy folks sent to jail for arson. One of the key pieces of evidence was the Rolex watch he lost at the crime scene.

Jemima Fawr05 Sep 2014 6:27 a.m. PST

Yes, it's a great photo, though I think they might be over-egging the "Ai Senor! The bandits have raided our village!" pose!

:)

Rrobbyrobot05 Sep 2014 6:41 a.m. PST

Stupid cowards gotta do. What stupid cowards gotta do…

Sajiro05 Sep 2014 6:47 a.m. PST

+1 Guinny.

Khusrau05 Sep 2014 8:16 a.m. PST

Join the army.. you get enemies thrown in for free. I will quite happily play with my toys, but I have serious issues with the 'the military cannot be questioned' attitude that seems to be the trend.

General Jumbo05 Sep 2014 8:52 a.m. PST

Could you explain those statements please Khusrau?
I appear to be missing what must be a very subtle point.
Thank you, and sorry for my density.

raylev305 Sep 2014 9:46 a.m. PST

Having seen rhetoric like this (the protestors' statement) in decades!

Shagnasty Supporting Member of TMP05 Sep 2014 12:08 p.m. PST

Anal orifices! They don't have a clue about what a real militarized society is like.

Royal Marine05 Sep 2014 2:58 p.m. PST

Twats. I really want to meet these guys to point out errors they have made.

McWong7305 Sep 2014 5:42 p.m. PST

the perpetrators come across more as silly spoilt middle class kids than ardent revolutionaries, I wouldn't get too hot under the collar about them.

Those Bristol Anarchists are giving proper Anarchists a bad name! Still, torching that bus is a step up from their deadly attacks on radio and tv masts in the Bristol region.

I'm still getting chuckles from that pic though!

Tgunner05 Sep 2014 6:15 p.m. PST

Why not start a Kickstarter to help them? They seem like a nice group of kids who could use a hand.

Jemima Fawr05 Sep 2014 10:10 p.m. PST

Khusrau,

The cadets (aged 12-19) aren't in the Army.

Klebert L Hall06 Sep 2014 5:48 a.m. PST

Wow.

There are actually groups of people wandering around the UK who sabotage radio aerials?

That's demented.
-Kle.

Rabelais06 Sep 2014 6:35 a.m. PST

I hear rumours that plans are afoot to finance the revolution by stealing lunch money from boy scouts.

Jemima Fawr06 Sep 2014 7:08 a.m. PST

Klebert,

It seems to be limited to one nutter (or a small group of nutters) in Bristol, who has attacked a few places – mainly parked cars and the like, but also some aerials and a police training range. I've not heard of anything remotely similar elsewhere.

As for attacks on cadets: The PIRA murdered an air cadet in Northern Ireland with a letter bomb in 1975 and about 15 years ago blinded an army cadet with a bomb disguised as an army angle-torch (which had been dropped over their compound wall).

General Jumbo06 Sep 2014 10:03 a.m. PST

The logo "Air Cadets" is quite clearly visible on the van.
I therefore cannot understand Khusrau's issue with "the military" on this thread.

Mako1106 Sep 2014 4:05 p.m. PST

That is a shame.

Wonder if Al Gore would be willing to donate one of his SUVs to them?

Jemima Fawr06 Sep 2014 10:09 p.m. PST

Jumbo,

I can't actually understand what he's saying and he hasn't elaborated, so best ignored, I feel.

Jemima Fawr08 Sep 2014 7:05 a.m. PST

Some good news: The local police and a sign-writer have apparently joined forces to provide 1860 Sqn with a replacement minibus.

If anyone still wants to make a donation, my own squadron could use a new one…

… anyone know a good arsonist…?

;)
