Hello all,
I have been slowly putting together a collection of figures for the Second Seminole War and was curious if anyone here could suggest figures to use for militia or mounted volunteers? Would 1812 figures be too early? Mex-Amer. War too late? I am particularly interested in mounted troops as a distant relative of mine was with the South Carlina Mounted Volunteers during the conflict.
Thanks(and now back to work!)
Mike

I use a combination of ACW and Mex Am War. I game in 15-18mm so the Blue Moon minis are very nice for it.
I use a variation of Sharp Practice for gaming. What were you planning on using?

Boot Hill Miniatures make some superb figures for the 1830s circa the Alamo and Mexicans.

There is a mounted figure from North Carolina that might suit your need. There are many Texans and Tennessean that could fit your requirements too.

Ironically, I just received an order of Boot Hill figures to supplement my southern Americans for the War of 1812…Battle of New Orleans.

Good luck with your project.

You could use the Perry AWI mounted rifles if you want the figures to look North Carolinian…..They could certainly be used for 1830 type of Alamo figures. Very nice sculpts very relaxed.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
@microbiggie: I hadn't given much thought to a rule set as this project is in its very early stages. Perhaps a tweaked Song of Drum and Shakos? I bought a bag of US troops and Seminoles from Old Glory a few years back but just started reading a book about it so kinda got the bug. I grew up in Florida so that has added a bit to the interest.

Some of Knuckleduster's figures from the War of 1812 line might work too.

Oh I hadn't thought of Knuckleduster…duh…I have quite a few of those!

For dismounted I am using a pack of Old Glory 1812 un-uniformed volunteers. Maybe a few too many top hats but I think it works.

I'd be tempted to look at Boers for mounted volunteers. If you can find some that don't have that definitive Boer look that is…
