Just wondering how people get the majority of their rules. 1)buy hardback/softback 2)buy PDF 3)buy second hand 4)borrow from friend 5)'borrow' from internet 6)use mostly free rules 7)use mostly homegrown rules |

1, 2. A bit of 3 just to have a copy of something interesting, but unlikley to play them much – games I want to play go into the 1, 2 categories. Regards David F Brown |

2 then 1 Prefer physical rules but many of the games I play have a high overhead for a physical vs PDF version. |

1,6 and 7, mostly … but some 10. from magazine articles (some great rules have been issued in magazine articles … WD's Nugget has something in nearly every issue, Slingshot has had some gems over the years, as did the early issues of MW) Phil |

I've been particularly pleased to get THW rules and PigWars in both 1 and 2. It really works out well for me. Many other rules I bought new in hard copy, and I picked up a few sets used at various events. Grelber |

My preference is 2 as I read better of a screen than from paper but do use 1, 3 and 7. x42 |

Lately, mostly 2 and some limited 1 |

Lately I start with 2 and if I like (and my group likes) I may purchase a physical copy as well. If a publisher gives a free PDF with the softcopy, then I will usually start with that. |

1 and 2. As to 6, as a compulsive collector of rules I have a huge library of free rules but rarely use any of them. LT |

1 and 3, and rarely, 2. I still generally prefer a hard copy of the rulebook, since I don't have a tablet or other handy device for viewing a PDF during a game. |
