Beautiful work! I have some Newline 20mm Napoleonic and really like them. I was considering getting some of their ancients as well, so this certainly helps to see them all painted up. And your basing is fantastic!

Very nice indeed. Why the different color shields though? Wouldn't the same legion have all one color?

Good color choices on the shields, red and yellow ochre and Egyptian blue. White or black would have been common also. The shading is a really good job too. Well done!

I liked the look of the mixed coloured shields from the art featured in Peter Connolly's Greece and Rome at War book. I wanted to give a bit of variety and colour to the unit but I was also very tempted to have a single shield colour. I also have plastic Marian Romans to paint one day and I'll probably give them a unified shield colour.
