Beautiful work! I have some Newline 20mm Napoleonic and really like them. I was considering getting some of their ancients as well, so this certainly helps to see them all painted up. And your basing is fantastic! |

Good color choices on the shields, red and yellow ochre and Egyptian blue. White or black would have been common also. The shading is a really good job too. Well done! |

Thanks for the comments! I liked the look of the mixed coloured shields from the art featured in Peter Connolly's Greece and Rome at War book. I wanted to give a bit of variety and colour to the unit but I was also very tempted to have a single shield colour. I also have plastic Marian Romans to paint one day and I'll probably give them a unified shield colour. Cheers. |
