I found the system very intruiging – written and played by men who took part in the Napoleonic Wars. Reading the rules one find good comments about Napoleonic Warfare was well. In 1828 in the Zeitschrift für Kunst, Wissenschaft und Geschichte des Krieges an extensive add on, new dices and improvement (after a lot of olaytesting) was published, unfortunatly the new dices are not fully published there the fold out is not fully scanned. For Downloads The original rules bitzkrieg.net/archive/872 with very nice plates to make your own dices – unit markers etc. Supplement zu den bisherigen Kriegsspiel Regeln

Bill Leeson generated some interest in this back in the 1980s when he translated the rules and reprinted maps. Some are available from TooFatLardies link Irregular miniatures still list KS blocks link and there is a forum – old material is about the paper game along with recent interest in using a computer game to create the limited information and communication on the battlefield. kriegsspiel.forumotion.net |

It is really interesting to see how they approach some tactical dilemmas that plague wargame rules. If a battery without support is attacked, it is eliminated !! |

Are those rules of TooFatLardies just the usual 1824 ones or the new revised 1828?? |

Both… in addition they have lots of the original maps – I think they cover Meinz – and have included the Waterloo map, which I think is the battle field survey conducted a year or two after the battle. All well worth the investment! |

I will ask them – unless they don't have the revised edition of 1828 – it would be difficult to play them. I see that they did only the 1824 ones and then the laster 1862 ones – which are tempting, but I am after the 1828 rules and the new dices. |

Correction on the map reference – should be Metz not Meinz. VW – you want TFL's 1824 Rules. I just checked and the 1828 rules are included as Appendix 2. All you are looking for is there including the new dice. Cheers! Beeker |
