Taobao, something like ebay in china. We have just known GW ordered the chinese agent to help closing all the retailing online store on Taobao. So far we don't know why GW doing this. There's less than 20 store in whole China and most of the sale is dealt on Taobao. Now GW is forcing the retailers to close the online stores. It threats if any one sell on Taobao, GW will stop business with the him. the dead line is 1st Sep. Now some retailer in China declared to stop business relationship with GW and many players said they will, surely drop warhammer completely. someones said GW is almost die in China. |

I think this has to do with GW not allowing anyone from selling their product online except for them. |

That seems like an ignorant move on the part of GW, given the realities of the Chinese market, including cities that are so huge that a trip to one particular store can entail at least a half-day trip! I suspect that the popularity of Taobao has as much to do with the convenience of being able to save on travel time and costs as it might with prices. |

Possibly too many hacking attempts or other irregularities? |

If I recall correctly Taobao is riddled with recasters. Stuff GW make in plastic is recast in resin. |

Are the recasts better quality than the "Finecast" ones? |

The original post implies that GW is cracking-down on retailers that are already a part of its distribution network, which suggests to me that they may not be IP pirates… |

Are the recasts better quality than the "Finecast" ones? Hell anything would be better than Finecast. Also I wish GW good luck with this since ther Chinese really do not support copyright laws. Only the right to make money. |

This is sure to increase their stock price, right? |

GW thinks they can exert the same level of control over the Chinese marketplace that they have over Europe and North America. The difference is that there were already gamers on those continents waiting to be screwed over once GW decided to cannibalize their audience. In China, that isn't the case. |

This may just be the needed stimulus for a home-grown alternative. |
