I try to go on TMP's Napoleonic Market page at least twice a week. I am looking for Minifigs 2nd generation figures. It is very frustrating to go on the page and see that someone has been selling these figure for a couple of days, and someone else has scooped them up. I have put up ads on the TMP Market page, and the Borderland site, looking for these figures, and hoping that someone wants to sell theirs. With no results. Then three months later, someone is trying to sell their Minifigs 2nd gen. Then it came to me……….. try to coordinate the sell. So the frist Friday in September, I will put up an ad, on the Napoleonic Market page, looking for unpainted Minifigs 2nd gen figures. I am looking for any French line infantry, line chasseurs a cheval, hussars, and line dragoons. Any Later(1812) Russian line infantry, artillery, Generals, and any Russian cavalry(except for cuirassiers). I will see if this will work for me. And SJDonavon, you are such a nice guy, that if you scoop up any of these figures, its OK! |

How does one know which ones are 2nd Edition? What edition is the current one? What size do you want? |
reggie88 | 28 Aug 2014 8:49 a.m. PST |
Hi Dan Beattie, The current edition is 3rd generation. They too big for my needs. I am so sorry, I am looking for 15mm. 2nd gen was produced in the 80s and the early 90s. They are TRUE 15mm. Look at the bases of the horses. Are they irregular in shape(3rd generation), or a rectangle(2nd gen)? Do they seem to be trotting(3rd gen), or standing(2nd gen)? The infantry(in 3rd gen) are shaped like a hex. The figures that came on strips, are 1st generation, and they were produced in the 70s. I do not need them either. If you have 2nd gen, the more the better. My ratio is 1:20, so I have big battalions and cavalry regiments. I hope I answered your questions. |

reggie88: A perfect explanation! Very accurate and easiest way to tell them apart! v/r Tom Dye ex-GFI |

Thanks Dye4minis. Too bad they don't make 2nd gen anymore, because I would get them from you. You're a nice guy also, and so easy to work with. |

Hi Reggie, Good luck with your search. And don't worry I won't be bidding against you. I have promised myself I won't buy anymore figures until I have painted a considerable proportion of what I have got. I noticed there are some 2nd gen Russian infantry in greatcoats on eBay at the moment. I bought quite a lot of stuff from this seller a few years ago and always found him very good to deal with. auction |

You could wait until I'm dead? |

reggie – We have corresponded before, but I think the potential postage put you off (I'm in the UK). I'm sorry, but I've temporarily lost your email address, but I'll try and retrieve it from my archive. I recently sold SJD a few Russians and French/Allied infantry and cavalry (mostly in bicornes), but I still have about 30+ Russian infantry (kiwer/greatcoats), a similar number of Cossacks in a mix of uniforms, and some mounted riflemen who can double as mounted horse artillery crews (kiwer). In addition, I have a lot of Waterloo British infantry and heavy cavalry, quite a few 1806 Prussians (these are quite rare), and I think I may also have some Dutch-Belgian artillery with British guns and limbers. Btw, the 2G Napoleonic cavalry was mostly walking horses with sabres held "at rest" against the shoulder, like most of the 25mm cavalrymen. The horses' bases had rounded ends, whilst infantry and gunners' bases were a mix of square-ended and rounded, depending on when they were released. |

OK 14Bore……. I'll wait! Thanks for the heads up SJDonovan, and Supercilius Maximus, but I prefer not to have figures in greatcoats. Me like the pretty uniforms! |
Supercilius Maximus | 30 Aug 2014 5:41 a.m. PST |
Would you still like the mounted chasseurs/horse gunners and cossacks, though? |

If you're interested, I have several hundred Minifig French infantry (elite, Leger, Ligne, light with command), artillery (horse and foot; 6,8,& 12 pdr), cavalry (carabiner, cuirassier, & chasseurs, including some command), limber and leader's. No greatcoats and all 80s vintage (2nd generation I believe). PM me if you need anything. |

Hi Supercilius Maximus the mounted chasseurs and cossacks would be fine, but as you said, I really don't want to pay the potential postage of shipping something from the UK to the US. Sorry. jnmpopie, your post got me interested, but I don't know how to pm you. My e-mail address is rsampson1@att.net Dan Beattie, did you ever figure out if you had 2nd gen, or 3rd? |
