I propose, not seriously, a function to add to Stifle and Ignore.
There are a few cases where a TMP poster is just so plain ignorant and stupid that I want to lash out, but restrain myself. I COULD stifle him, but that means that I could not see what other amusing but incredibly stupid things he has to say. It is a real bother un-stifling and responding. Then I forget to re-stifle him!

Much better to have the opposite of a LIKE button. A function that says "You are a real idiot, but not worth a stifle".

A year ago, I would have been serious about this, and supported it.
But now, with all the bad blood flowing here, I just wistfully with there was a way to call someone an idiot and not get the DH for it.
If this WERE to be implemented, and I pray it is not, then the flagger should be visible to the "victim".

This is a stupid idea whose time has come!

I warned you. I'll be over soon, but in the mean time, here you go:

Reddit has vote up or down.

TMP could have the same.

How about a rating system 10 for the best, -10 for the most inane….-30 for someone that you really dislike?

britishlinescarlet224 Aug 2014 11:12 a.m. PST

How about no rate it system? I don't understand the need to pass judgement on other people's stupidity or otherwise.

rather than "Up" or "Down" how about "Napoleons" and "Clowns"

skippy000124 Aug 2014 12:07 p.m. PST

How about 'Asinine, Ludicrous & Absurd' which describes most of my posts anyway.

No, no, no … you have to use two word that mean something different.

Sounds a lot like middle school. Maybe we could have a button to decide who gets to sit at the cool table for lunch.

Shardik24 Aug 2014 6:33 p.m. PST

There would be plenty of opportunities to use it. One of my favourites was a poster who stated quite confidently that Napoleon never made it to Moscow. Another was a recent post that claimed that Japanese soldiers didn't surrender

If we had a "like" function I would "like" this a thousand times……oh….hold on….. :-)

How about a button that really punishes someone. Don't like some little comment a person makes or you don't like the attitude of someone you have never met. You discover that he has a good point and in fact has proven you wrong and you don't like it.

Then hit the "Nuke Button" which automatically sends a virus which destroys his hard drive. Now a year ago I would have (not) supported this idea (not really, but sort of, no definitely I wouldn't have) but now I would never support such a crazy idea. This crazy idea would never be implemented.

I am posting this to say this is a crazy idea and should never be implemented. I do hope this idea does not become a poll for all the members to vote on. I am only posting this as to not draw attention to it.

"I propose, NOT SERIOUSLY, a function to add to Stifle and Ignore." Emphasis mine.

Weasel25 Aug 2014 7:18 p.m. PST

I seem to have converted one of my stiflers into ignoring me. Maybe the rest are afraid of commitment.

Wulfgar25 Aug 2014 7:37 p.m. PST

Yes, Robert. The OP is such a sensitive soul. How will be ever endure the sarcasm?

Pete Melvin26 Aug 2014 3:29 a.m. PST

How about an "oy vey" button. Every time someone makes a ridiculous suggestion, press the "oy vey" button and it automatically puts your response to said suggestion as, you guessed it: OY VEY

For example, I reckon I'd have earned no less than ten "oy veys" for suggesting an "oy vey" button. And the circle would be complete.

deephorse26 Aug 2014 4:26 a.m. PST

How about a button that when pressed copies the post you don't like to the front page? It appears there in a large font inside a massively highlighted box with the title "Look at what this idiot posted!" flashing on and off.

Of course the result would be that this would be all the front page would consist of. But I like the sound of it!

Good idea. Will save me a lot of trouble with The OFM and Winston Smith……
