My friends and I always had a lot of fun playing starfire first edition.

Starfire is a fun game! One of the most enjoyable campaigns we did was non-standard in that all the players started off in the Sol System as one of a number of factions and then we did a basic campaign from there, exploring jump points and developing resources in the Sol System:

On Earth: NorthAmerican Federation, PanAsian Cooperative, African Union and the European Union

Sol System: Free Belter's Union, Martian Confederacy, Jovian Alliance

At one point several players were at war within the Solar System and it felt kind of like the Battle of Britain -- lots of action. Players plotted their attack routes and submitted it to the GM, then we did a simultaneous move with intercept decisions. Then the European Union had to go and discover a hostile alien race bent on domination and it turned into a normal campaign after the Aliens barged into Sol System and beat the heck out of the Human fleets before retreating.

Such a great game back in the day, and I think it holds up well today, too.

Really well done AARs, by the way.
