I have added an image which shows more of Italian Knights in 'Abram Defeats the Four Kings', Cathedral of Sant'Evasio, Casale Monferrato
The kings have small round shields rather than kite shields.

There is also Italian infantry with kite shields, Cathedral of Sant'Evasio, Casale Monferrato
