Having read this before, it is a very good exposition from the British perspective. The main focus is dealt with in great detail, covering off the debate around 'mounted infantry' versus 'cavalry'. There were many other doctrinal issues, however, that were important at the time so just bear this in mind. The debates within the French, German and Belgian armies were different in nature, reflecting various national and other factors such as the personalities involved. Robert |
