I have been kicking the idea around for a long time what scale figures would be appropriate for 1/1200 Napoleonic Naval shore scenarios. I went with 2MM on the recommendation of a few folks on TMP. I purchased horse & Musket troops from Irregular Miniatures and some buildings. First off, the 2MM buildings are way too small for 1/1200 scale. They are way too small for the 2MM troops as well. But I think the troops look OK. I have only painted a few to see how they look in the Port/Harbor. What do you think?

I think they look awesome Vol, they seem to fit the scale well to me. They make the terrain come alive, which is a great affect.

All of Vol's friends, be very alert. He's taking another step on a slippery slope that will see him add crew figures to the ships themselves, and end with him fashioning a working 1/1200 musket. An intervention may be necessary.

I've used Irregular 2mm troops with my ships for some time now. It's nice to have landing parties and bodies of troops in the (almost)same scale as the ships. Do agree with you about the 2mm buildings from Irregular. Langton is probably the best bet for that still, although I am tempted by some of the Aeronef buildings.

I like this very much! Really adds to the overall sense of immersion.

Nice! It is good have some people/wagons to add the human touch

Ha, ha James. Forget the musket! I'm dreaming of a full working 24 pounder broadside! :)

Are those Langton buildings in the photos?

I bought 1-3 examples of each of the Irregular 2mm buildings and terrain items, and decided to use most of them for my 1/2400 naval miniatures. I agree they are far too small for 1/1200. A few I bought (IKS1, IKS2, BG160) are about the right scale to mix with my other 1/1200 scenery. I can't figure out what scale IKS4 looks like, but I don't like it much.

I really like the buildings from the Brigade Models Small Scale Scenery range. For variety, it would be nice to mix them with buildings from Langton, but I don't own any of the Langtons so I can't say how that would look.

Yellow Admiral,
Yes these are all Langton buildings.

The defences look great with troops, ready to man the guns & take positions on the walls. Also the transport in the streets bring the buildings alive,As a raiding party approaches from the sea,it looks more daunting than empty battlements! Will have to get some for each side, maybe local cavalry for quick responce force with gallopers gun!!! Maybe one of Vols working 12lb on the ramparts. They look very good.Well Done

Big thumbs up, Vol. Nice touch.

And when you figure out the working 24 pounder battery thing, I'm going to want one.

Thanks Jeff & Cutwater. Still working on the battery thing I'm afraid.

Yellow Admiral: I purchased some Brigade Models forts to see how they would work with the 1/1200 ships. They work good! So I would bet the buildings will too.
