While visiting my FLGS they said they heard a rumor that "Mr. Zvezda" had died and Zvezda products might experience delays in distribution.

There was also an opinion that Zvezda products might be prevented for importation into the USA due to the Ukraine situation.

Can anyone confirm or deny this speculation?

Yes, Mr Zvezda (can't remember his actual name) did pass away recently. Don't know if sanctions affect toy soldiers though – hopefully not!

Most of the sanctions from the west so far have involved Putin's billionaire buddies. They are concentrating on high value financial transactions, in the hundreds of million dollar range. Putin has responded somewhat in kind, blocking American fast food and European and American food imports. My guess is that unless Putin decides to hurt the international plastic modeling world in an effort to bring the west to its knees I don't think an embargo is in the cards.

He was a pretty nice guy, his son was also pretty active in the business and I did see his son at Origins. I suspect he will carry on the business.

Sad to hear of his passing, he built an unexpected titan of the gaming world.

Any notion on where Zvezda are heading more broadly? I'd hope that they can experiment with something other than these teeny WW2 kits, but I suppose they have the golden bullet now (own system, own figures).
