Hey all,
I've updated my Wooden Wars infantry Assembly guide, and put it up on my blog.

These 'flats' have a real charm, especially in masse.

Wow, they look awesome. I like how their uniforms seem to be a bit brighter than normal to so they stand out more.

When painting white, how do you keep the detail lines so dark? Do you only use a brush on paint so you can avoid the lines, or do you go back after painting & darken the lines with a fine point pen?

Black Cavalier. The short answer is that the paint goes into the etched lines a bit, but they are deep enough as to not be covered or destroyed.

To get the white I wash a 70% white(I like either Humbrol acrylic or GW white)30% future floor wax mix over an area, giving it a bit of a linen feeling. When that dries, I go back and paint more normal thickness in the areas I want highlight, such as belts, knees, the edges of trousers, etc.
Due to the depth of the laser etching the lines pop right back and are not covered up.

I'm currently working on some step by step painting tutorials. In the mean time, this older blog post I did on painting and times has some good visuals as to what I am talking about. I've added a link to the blog posting, and a picture of an officer in "under painting" mode.

Hope this helps
