I've been a Dan dare fan most of my life and find it sad that while Buck and Flash get all the glory poor old Dan gets mostly ignored everywhere except England *L*

Thinking about doing some Trigan Empire stuff since i am all about the neglected universes

By the Magnets of Mekonta! Those are terrific!

These designs would be perfect for our war Rocket game. I wanted to buy one but The link doesn't work for me.

Einar Gosric16 Aug 2014 12:02 a.m. PST

Thank you. I always thought the Magnets of Mekonta would be a great band name. But of course there is already a band called the Mekons so probably not.
As for the link that is odd. how about this one?

If that doesnt work then.

I wasn't sure which one you meant so there is the whole IPF line. There are also some with a more traditional Buck rogers aesthetic.

What scale are they?

you suggested FD might be better for the Kestrel for example, but only WHITE is available?

Einar Gosric16 Aug 2014 3:46 p.m. PST

oops. I'll fix it as soon as i stop typing here. As for scale it is a bit vague But i was using approximately 1 inch (the modelling program i use is set to inches which is a bit awkward but oh well, its free) equals 10 metres which works out somewhere around 1/380 to 1/400. Assuming, as seems likely with the period of the source material, that the sizes of the larger ships are comparable to some of the giant bombers of the 50s.
Kestrel issue is fixed. Im switching everything to frosted detail and frosted ultra as the quality is so much better. But i missed the Kestrel first time around

These look excellent. I always wanted to do a Silent Death Conversion for Dan Dare. I recently had a business meet with Leland Erickson and Sheldon Greaves of Metal Express/Silent Death fame.

Whilst it's something that would be almost impossible to do as a direct, licenced product (I know : I've tried) something inspired by the Dan Dare theme would be a great thing (in y opinion)nd is something I shall mention when I next talk to Mr Erickson and Dr Greaves.
