"If you are a Dark Osprey fan, and you like the singular and exquisitely eccentric Victorian Sci-fi genre known as 'Steampunk', you will love what we have in store for you…

in one form or another, Steampunk has been going since the days of Jules Verne. Now the Dark Osprey team have tackled the subject and are preparing to publish 'Steampunk Soldiers' – a fantastic collection of illustrations of, and notes on, various fighting men and machines and their steam powered weaponry from around the world.

From the deepest darkest depths of the Dark Osprey vaults, we managed to prise a description of the forthcoming book…"

"Dark Osprey"…?

I hope that doesn't mean we're going to start seeing SKULLS all over Osprey products! ;-)

The Nazi Occult Dark Osprey book is genuinely great, and I was suspicious about the whole idea beforehand.

So what are the books in the Dark Osprey imprint? A "historical" treatment of fictional subjects? So The Nazi Occult book would be for gamers interested in Weird War II, and this Steampunk book aimed at VSF gamers? What sort of material is included? Being Osprey I'd guess uniform and equipment details, but as the subject is fictional perhaps alternate history and scenario ideas perhaps?

The Steampunk Soldiers books includes 65 colour plates like the one above, all painted by Mark Stacey. Each plate is accompanied by a short description, giving further details about the unit history of equipment.

The plates will be fun, but better if there are figures to match, the guy above would be cool to have.

Actually, Craig had been promised a pre-release copy, and we should be seeing In Her Majesty's Name stats REAL SOON (tm).

Edit: Well, sometime. ;->= I'm hoping we'll see another installment of IHMN Gothic…
