My son and I have gotten back into playing some 40K again just because. We are find using the 5th edition rules which is about the time we stopped wanting to purchase the ridiculous rewriting of rules and codexes. Of course when he and I played a game recently at our local game store the more regular 40K players were all about 6.5 and 7th edition.

No thanks I stated I am fine with what I have and the models have gotten way to expensive. I am glad I have what I have in my collection. However, I was curious about all the new stuff and even decided to go onto the GW website to see what was going on. I found it curious that the Chaos version of the Dreadnought (perhaps one of my favorite support options in the game) was no longer listed and in its place is some heavily mutatied beast that is like a dread. Yet that model too seemed to be absent from the army list. Can any one illuminate me as to what is going on. Not that I am suddenly going to give up my Chaos Dreds.

I forget what they are calling chaos dreads now. They just released a multi option plastic kit a few months ago that is pretty nice.

As long as you stick with 5th edition you should be fine using your old dreads and codexes.

"Hellbrute" I believe.

I like the classic model for my Iron Warriors.

Hellbrute, yea that was it. Yes it is a nice looking model but why get rid of the Chaos Dreadnoughts?

To sell "new" and "improved" models to go with the rules and codex rewrites….

"Why get rid of the Chaos Dreadnoughts?"

Because the old model was terrible. The Hellbrute is just the same concept now anyway, but rendered in plastic with far more options in the kit.

GW is like G. Orwell's new speak in "1984" … they change things, make up new things, etc., when ever they feel like it … I think they are trying to see how far over the top/wierd/goofy/etc. fluff and models they can make before the koolaid drinking masses and minions finally stop buying their very over priced products … evil grin

They just renamed it. The Hellbrute IS the chaos dreadnought. Just like how the old eldar dreadnought became the wraithlord and the orc dreadnought became the deff dread. Same thing, updated design and kit.
