I do not know how you do it….but again you have done it! If this is really from 1816, it is quite remarkable for its accurate rendering of British uniforms. OK, there are more kilted Scots, than any other nation, I accept, esp as only three such regiments featured on the big day. But the Scots Greys are shown…some in oilskin covers, some in the exposed bearskin. The former is very interesting contemporary evidence. RHA are well shown. There is even a dragoon and RHG trooper. The artist did more research than most of his contemporaries did! Well done again (grin)…..you are good at this…… |

This from Wikipedia:- John Heaviside Clark (c.1771–1836) was a Scottish aquatint engraver and painter of seascapes and landscapes. He was sometimes known as Waterloo Clark, because of the sketches he made on the field directly after the Battle of Waterloo. As the artist was a Scot that might explain all the highlanders in the painting. So you could say it was Scotland that won the battle! ;) regards, Paul emperorslibrary.com |

and I always thought it was the Germans, not the Scots, wot won the battle…………..actually, I admit, there may be a case for that! Well done Armand (grin) |
