After a fair amount of design work (plus cursing/swearing & crtl+Zing), have done a test of my 28mm MonoRail Design works, did find had missed 6 tiny braces for the Under Carriage boxes & had forgotten to flip some of the faces for the Boogies (double d'oh), now corrected. So picture do not show these boxes.
Will sell Carriages in packs of 1; either a Driver+Passenger Unit or Passenger only Units. Tracks will be sold in either: Curve Pack: 2 x 45deg & 2 x 22.5deg , with associated Track Pillars. Straight Pack:: 40cm x 2, 20cm x 3 & associated Track Pillars Working on Stop Design. Will be 40cm Long, 13cm High, 8 (+6cm for ramp) wide. Regards Mad Mecha Guy |

That thing is awesome. Is it fairly stable as is or would you need to mount the track pillars on larger bases to keep it from tipping over if someone bumped the table? The cars could be used for a subway system too. Any thoughts/plans for a ground rail system? |

Dear Sajiro The bases (40mm Square) seem stable but not sure if 'Beer Belly Knock' proofed. Was think people might use magnets & board painted in magnetic paint to hold in place. Could do a low level track version, using same rail but only short uprights or the under rail support the odd square. Height off ground would be around 2 cm, this is not far of a real train wheel bogie height. Will have to look into it for both 28 & 15mm. Regards MMG |

Really good looking Train! |

Forgot to say, was thinking of doing seating benches but they would get in the way of using the train, plus would not fit on the sheet. Might do as an optional extra. May have enough space on sheet to do some simple consoles for cabin but do not want to put much in cab as may block its use. Pricing: Carriage: £10.00 GBP Straight Track Pack: £9.00 GBP Curved Track pack £9.00 GBP Not finished Stop design at present but certain will take two sheets. Regards MMG. |

Just awesome! Been wanting something like this for awhile now. I had almost given up and bought a a Disney Monorail. I think this rocks! I think no seats is fine – that is pretty typical for the monorails I have ridden at airports. Looking forward to ordering one. High high is it from the bottom of the rail to the ground and what level are the bottom of the doors? Lost Pict |
Mad Mecha Guy | 08 Aug 2014 11:25 p.m. PST |
Dear LostPict Height to rail: 13.2mm (leaves around 11.6mm free Space under the rail Height to doors: 13.6mm. Regards. |

correction should be 13.2 centimetres not millimetres. Had a quick look at doing the near ground level, track height would be 24mm. Would be able to use existing track design with new stumpy track support. Did a quick design for a 'near ground to high level' track ramp, came out at 16 deg angle (40cm long ramp), do people think this too steep for monorail Regards MMG. |

You could do long inward facing benches along the sides. There are some examples of this in older urban rail equipment like cable cars and trolleys. link I suspect it maximized standing room, while allowing some folks to sit when things were quiet. Gives you the best of both worlds: a large open interior with a finished, useful feel. |

Also, the operators on older trolleys and operators typically stood so you could put a simple control stand at an appropriate standing height. Googling about should find you some photography, but I can probably get you pictures in a pinch. (Not presently in my collection, but that could be fixed.) |
