After a 4 year hiatus of gaming I am looking to get back into it. I wanted to start collecting figures for War of the Roses/Late 100 Years war and was wondering if Black Tree and Perry would mix well together as long as they were in separate units? Black Tree is having a 50% off summer sale so I wanted to pick some stuff from them and but wanted to supplement a bit with cavalry and the Perry Mounted Men at Arms. Additionally down the road I will probably pick up some of the Perry infantry as well. Thanks for the help ahead of time. Cheers! |

I have Perry plastics for WoTR as well as a bunch of BTD, and they will be fine in separate units. The BTD are bigger, both figures and horses, but not so much so that it will be bad on the tabletop on separate bases, and some of the foot figures will even look fine on same base. I think the horses might be the bigger problem, actually. There is an ex-TMPer, Lord Raglan, who mixed and matched Perry, Front Rank (big figures, bigger than BTD), and Old Glory on same bases and it looked fine; he was a good painter, though. |

I cannot speak for size compatibility, but if you are talking about the Black Tree late HYW range, then keep in mind that while they could work for Agincourt, they would look very outdated by 1450, so not good for WotR. As for the prices, Black Tree infantry figures cost around £0.75 GBP when in 50 % discount, which is cheaper than the Perry metals. However, if you have patience to wait for a while (half a year or so) then Perries will be bringing out a set of plastic HYW infantry that is likely to be priced at around £0.50 GBP per figure. You can see some pictures of those upcoming Perry figures on their plastic workbench: link |

Actually, Perry announced just today that the WoTR plastic foot knights are up for preorder and shipping at end of August! |
