I would like to know who makes some really nice subject horses for my Black Hussar Prussian limber. I am looking for some high quality sculpts,un-ridden, to match the standard of Black Hussar miniatures.

Am looking for some suggestions from the collective knowledge here.

Thanks in advance.

Tom,

Fife and Drum/Minden Miniatures would be my choice. I think Jim Purky sells the limber horses separately.

Yep, Jim's horses would work well too. His horses are well proportioned.

Tom – Jim's items are much less expensive than anyone else as well.

And they paint up well. Take a look at the bottom of the link.

Thanks, Guys! I agree with all of you! I will send an order tonight to Jim Purky! Hal: I hope the package arrived ok. Indeed, those horses are of the quality I was looking for! Jim, thanks for the lead and to Matt for the link!

The Fife & Drum limber horses (3 different walking variants) are sized to fit with the Black Hussar figures. I have the Black Hussar Prussian gun crew and 3-pounder in my own collection.

We have actually redesigned all of our limber horses and riders using Richard Ansell sculpts so that they are consistent in appearance with the rest of our range. The horses and riders shown in the link have been retired as they were made by a different sculptor.

We also offer Prussian 3/6/12 pounders and 10 pound howitzer , plus two different Prussian limbers and the horse teams. We will have Austrian and Prussian artillery train drivers in production by the end of this month.

Let me know if you have any questions as I am glad to help.

Order sent, Jim! Let us know here when those arty drivers become available. I think I ordered the Fife and Drum ones you suggested….if not, Please make it so, Jim! I really like the quality of the gun barrels! Many may not realize that a 4, 6 and even 12 pounder tubes can come in many varying calibers (lengths)and thicknesses. It's nice to see the variety of these getting some representation these days!

Again, Thanks to all for your most excellent help!

Glad you found what you needed. I really like the way the fife and drum figures paint up.

Thanks, Matt. When I get a few of these new Black hussar SYW Prussians completed, I'll post the pic on my blog and here. I'm doing IR 40, with the pink pants. They started out from Wurtemburg (where I am stationed) and the color combo looks pretty nice with the dark blue coats and silver trim.

While I am not positive, I think that the same designer (and perhaps even the casting company) is shared by both firms. (Which is more than A-OK with me!) Yes, Matt, I bet they really are fun to paint up! It's a nice change of pace from doing my SYW in 6, 10 and 15mm!
