I finally went and backed a Kickstarter, oh and from a company that delivers. Mantic Games new Fantasy Dungeon crawling game that looks a bit like Hero Quest. Dungeon Saga: The Dwarf King's Quest link
Dungeon Saga: The Dwarf King's Quest is the dungeon adventure board game for 2-5 players, ages 13 and up, written by Jake Thornton and produced by Mantic Games. Kickstarter first date was yesterday at 1:30 and it was probably funded in a few hours. Currently at well above $200 USD USDK and with around 1940 backers. Rules by Jake Thornton and Mantic Games has proven themselves quite capable of creating decent games. Since this is Mantic Games you can expect other villains and heroes to come later, plus additional floor tiles. |

Love this project so far. This should be cross-posted in the Dungeoncrawls section! |

"Kickstarter first date was yesterday at 1:30 and it was probably funded in a few hours." more like funded in FOUR minutes… about six times faster than their last record, people must have been waiting for a game like this. I backed because I really like their earlier Dwarf King's hold game, also by Jake Thornton. |

If this is your first Kickstarter, you will not be let down. I have backed a few of Mantic game products…not only will they deliver---they will over deliver. If the funding trend keeps up, expcet lots of strech goals. And if that is not enough, there usually is a discount shopping area for you to spend extra money when the kickstarter is over. |

Look kewl…reminds me more of Warhammer Quest than HeroQuest though. Plus it comes with a Felicia Day mini!

reminds me more of Warhammer Quest Actually, it's closer to Descent in that one player must be the "overlord." There has been teasing on the Mantic Blog that a future stretch goal would be true co-op play. I've backed it but reserve the right to back out if they do not add co-op play. |

I'm a Mantic fan but always wait till their stuff is available retail. FLGSs are a little happier to actually carry the product instead of the lot of us coming in with all the stuff we bought off KS. It also helps keep their lights on, which prevents me from either playing in the dark and/or having to break into a shuttered building. Plus I can actually keep up with painting stuff instead of "garage full-o-stuff" that I've seen several of my buddies stuck with. Last, it helps identify the problematic minis (e.g., restic mold lines down the faces of Void Sirens) since I get to see most of them in person before I buy. |

Well I expect to see the Trolls added by at least tomorrow only around $7,250 USD more until that. Then need to work towards Hogger. I might also need to pick up some of their Undead stuff. link |

reminds me more of Warhammer Quest True and I have my copy of that and several other characters. You more than likely could use miniatures that came with it as well for this. |
Mithmee | 06 Aug 2014 9:08 p.m. PST |
Around $7,500 USD from the next goal. What will be the next stretch goal? |

and now we are onto a paladin. come on peeps, we have to spread this around if we are to get even more goals knocked out. |

Having previously backed Dreadball and Deadzone I'm in for this. As others have said, mantic always goes big on the stretch goals :) |
Mithmee | 12 Aug 2014 7:18 p.m. PST |
Going to need a new stretch goal since the $350 USDK goal has been made. Though it has a long way to go to meet the Flying Frog Productions Shadows of Brimstone – Kickstarter |
Mithmee | 14 Aug 2014 2:06 p.m. PST |
Almost to the $375 USDK level. |
Mithmee | 16 Aug 2014 8:50 p.m. PST |
passed the %400K level and lots of stuff has been added. |
Mithmee | 22 Aug 2014 5:50 p.m. PST |
Well nearly 3550 backers and closing in on the $500 USDK level. Oh and only ten days left to get in on this. |
Thomas Nissvik | 27 Aug 2014 6:30 a.m. PST |
I just joined you. Looking very good indeed. |
Bob Runnicles | 27 Aug 2014 7:11 a.m. PST |
Up to $564 USDK. Looking good but I don't think it'll beat out Deadzone which ended at $1.2 USD MILLION ;) |
Mithmee | 27 Aug 2014 11:56 a.m. PST |
True, since there are only four more days until it ends. |
Mithmee | 27 Aug 2014 6:26 p.m. PST |
I do thing that it will hit the $600 USDK goal though but not much more than that. Still needs like $13,310 USD more to go. I did up my pledge though. |
Thomas Nissvik | 28 Aug 2014 3:35 a.m. PST |
83 new backers at the 100USD level since I joined 23 hours ago. |
Mithmee | 28 Aug 2014 7:32 a.m. PST |
Well over 4000 backers and over $610 USDK. Next goal is $650 USDK and then $700 USDK. I think it is possible for the first and the second is a long shot. |

It says the figures are coloured plastic. What does that mean? Are they painted ? |
Mithmee | 29 Aug 2014 12:38 p.m. PST |
No they are not painted. I believe they will be your standard grey plastic though some might be a different color plastic since you have the good guys and bad guys. Though if you got in on as one of the three to get your stuff painted then they would be painted. Oh those things went quick. |
TurnStyle | 29 Aug 2014 12:43 p.m. PST |
As shown in the initial picture, these will be coloured plastic, so red for bad guys and white/creme for good guys or something like that. Think Descent etc. They mentioned the plastic figures being multi-part but pre-assembled in some cases, so think Dust. They haven't really made it clear if the bases are pegged like Dust or part of the miniature. |

I bought into the Sci-fi KS by Battlesystems, who are now doing a dungeon version. Can I say I was very impressed, this type of system is so flexible, and fun building your gaming environment, with different levels, which can be altered and remade every time you play. The Dungeon version now on KS is a no brainer if you want a flexible (cheap) 3D dungeon for your crawling games. I am in again with this Kickstarter. |

I was undecided about backing this or not but finally caved in. So far I just pledged the minimum $100 USD and need to think about what addons to get. I don't know if I can afford the extra $200 USD+ to get everything I'd like. Each year lately I seem to get one big pile of minis from kickstarters. Last year Reaper Bones, this year Reaper Bones 2, next year Dungeon Saga. Really need to get to work painting again before the next shipment. Even with only one purchase a year I'm falling behind. |
TurnStyle | 31 Aug 2014 12:31 p.m. PST |
Remember, the expansions will eventually be available from discount retailers online, like everything else…so don't fret too much about them. The main $100 USD pledge is the good one at the moment (loads of free kit, about 50% cost). |
Mithmee | 31 Aug 2014 9:57 p.m. PST |
Well it looks like it was a very busy day for this. Over 1,000 new backers and it gained over $1 USD million. Now the decision will be what add ons? |
Thomas Nissvik | 03 Sep 2014 2:15 a.m. PST |
Finished just over 1 million. A lot of stuff just for the basic $100 USD, but of course I will have to add some expansions when they get the pledge manager up. So, I get all this next year. I'll have it painted by…never?

I got into this one with a few hours to spare. Lottsa loot. |
Mithmee | 04 Sep 2014 7:43 p.m. PST |
I am going to be looking at picking up more of the Undead models. Do it right and I will have that Undead Army for Fantasy for far less than GW. Oh and they will look like Undead and not some %$^ @#* miniatures. |
