Anyone have word from Paul Darnell of Touching History? I'm just wondering how he is doing. |

I'd like to know as well. Last update from his blog seemed to be spam, but I heard he'd planned to move away from the wargaming side of things and into art, so hopefully he's just cracking on with that. |

Well, the Touching History series didn't get far: Like much else. |

I own almost every terrain making book known to man and by far and away the Touching History series is the best. Bar none. I know that he was going full time into art, large sculpts I think. I was just hoping that he is well because he has had his share of difficulties. |

@ nevinsrip: I'm afraid I have to disagree with you. The Peninsular modelling book wasn't bad. But the ECW issue! Fields made of dried-brushed plastic doormat is not what I'd expected from a 'professiona' modeller'. The church in that book was kit-bashed. And for a modelling book on ECW period buildings and fortifications, there was a distinct lack of any tips on how to model a star-fort. (By the time I saw the WWII issue I was beginning to think a star-fort might be beyond the capabilities of the author). The WWII issue of Touching History merely covered some small modelling pieces; and there, I believe, the series stopped, although eight projected issues were listed as forthcoming in the first book. There were also problems with uncompleted orders for commissioned models, allegedly. |

And the colours of his timber framed buildings were wrong. Black timbers and white walls didn't come in until the 1800s. |
