These look quite nice but I have my fleet needs filled. I'll bear them in mind if I wish a future expiation.

Nice and unique! Great to see a whole new line out. Great job as usual!

Unrepentant Werewolf at work04 Aug 2014 4:29 a.m. PST

Very nice indeed!

Ping Pong04 Aug 2014 4:37 a.m. PST

Nice!

Lucius04 Aug 2014 4:47 a.m. PST

Always great to see a complete line come out.

D6 Junkie04 Aug 2014 4:49 a.m. PST

I like them! Are they cast in resin?

Very tempting. I'm thinking ….

stumer04 Aug 2014 5:17 a.m. PST

All of this line are cast in no lead #92 "Brittania" Pewter.

Deltapax104 Aug 2014 5:44 a.m. PST

Those are pretty neat!

Gaz004504 Aug 2014 7:21 a.m. PST

Nice 'alien' design feel about them…an apparently different design philosophy…..still got NSL/Scanfed/Rim Pirate fleets and a merchant convoy in the paint queue tho'…..(not that it will stop me buying more!)

jpattern204 Aug 2014 8:44 a.m. PST

Echoing what the others have posted, those are very nice designs.

Allen5704 Aug 2014 8:52 a.m. PST

Nice as usual. Any possibility that they could be done in a fleet action scale (approx. 1/2 the current size?)

BlackWidowPilot Fezian04 Aug 2014 10:06 a.m. PST

These are very nice, but THIS is the ship I've been waiting for (and still am!):

Now, any chance you'll make some 1-inch sized versions of those new fighters? The Skate is rather nice looking…evil grin

@Allen, these are already pretty small (if you look at the sizes listed on each of the kits) if not Fleetscale.

Leland, Why haven't you already made a Rchelieu yet..? There is every possibility of my offering 1" versions of the new fighters, but the demand needs to be more than a single excellent customer. wink thumbs up

Keelhauled04 Aug 2014 2:35 p.m. PST

Wow! Those are some nice designs. Have to shine upmy credit card for a nice workout.

Maybe these are "not from some sci-fi franchise" but as far as I can discern these are the most original starships to come out in some time…

Allen5704 Aug 2014 4:44 p.m. PST

Hi Drew,

I basically subscribe to the SCN definition of fleet scale which defines them as smaller miniatures with none being larger than about 3 inches (75mm) with the most common ships in the 1-2 inch (25-50mm) range. This scale is usually associated with the out of production Fleet Action Babylon 5 miniatures or the Star Blazers miniatures.

Your new line is a bit too large for this definition. They would need to be 30-50% smaller to be "Fleet Action".

Al

stumer04 Aug 2014 4:56 p.m. PST

Ah, sorry about that, they are already at the thin end in places, to just rescaling isn't likely to work in producing them.

Allen5705 Aug 2014 2:23 a.m. PST

Drew,

Rescaling is not what is needed. I misspoke when I said they need to be 30-50% smaller. Many of the ship lines out there have a few smaller (shorter) minis, which allow us fleet scale gamers to assemble a fleet. If Shadow Weaver had some ships that were 1-1 1/2 inches long in the same scale as the current miniatures a fleet action style fleet could be assembled. The current cruisers would be used as dreadnoughts and destroyers used as cruisers. GZG's Full Thrust line as an example of a line where you can do this.

Allen5705 Aug 2014 2:36 a.m. PST

Leland,

Don't want to hijack this thread but have you looked at the Star Blazers miniatures? link

Hey, I'm good, but not *that* good! That's why I rely upon indy makers like you, Drew! Now, about those 1-inch Skates…evil grin

Allen,

yes, I do, as I have owned a small contingent of 'em since the line first launched years ago. Nice as they are, I prefer my anime space battlewagons a bit larger, as in these beasties:

ShadowWeaver201008 Aug 2014 6:58 p.m. PST

Hello, I am ShadowWeaver the designer of this new fleet that Stumer has presented to everyone.

This is my first ever post on this forum as I did not know about it until just recently. I sincerely appreciate the comments about it being unique and not a Genre related fleet.

While I love just about any starship created from, Star Trek to StarBlazers I have always wanted to create my own that was not directly tied back to any of the afore mentioned genre's.

My goal in creating this fleet was to make a customizable set of ships that could be tailored to a multitude of personal styles.

Now that Stumer has this fleet up and ready on his site for purchase you can go there and take a look at just how customizeable this fleet really is.

I have been spending the last two weeks playing with the kits to find my own set of additions to the initial designs just by playing with the pieces because as you all know having something in your hands is so much more fun than trying to create it in a 3d environment. That freedom of being able to take superglue and place a piece at whim completely changes perspective when comparing it to a 3d model.

So with that all said I would like to hear any ideas or thoughts on the fleet as you see it could benifit your gaming environment. Everything from your likes to your dislikes, like the one comparing the fleets capability to be played in fleet scale.

Just so you know this is a learning curve for me. While I have been designing and building furniture for the past 20years actually designing and having a fleet of my own miniatures is a dream come true for me.

I never thought that in 1985, almost 30 years later, I would actually be designing and producing game pieces for table top games. I learned to play table top Sci-Fi games from an ole' Buck Sergeant when I started in the Army and I have been playing them off and on ever since.

So I hope you enjoy the fleet and would love to hear more feedback.

Sincerely, ShadowWeaver

BlackWidowPilot Fezian08 Aug 2014 11:03 p.m. PST

SW, your ships rock. If I can get some of them to work on a two-hex stand, I'll break down and order some examples for an article on alternate escort vessel models for Silent Death: The Next Millennium.

Further, I personally have spent the past several years advocating for a set of hard plastic modular starship models. You, sir, have come the closest to making that heartfelt wish of mine become reality albeit in metal.

If you produce 1-inch sized fighters, I will indeed be looking at them with keen interest. Seriously.

Welcome to the Dark Side, SW. We have pizza, beer, and cookies.evil grin

Leland, currently I am working on a seperate project at the moment, to include painting the mini's I currently have on hand. I will take this idea of 1" fighters and put it on my list of ideas for upgrades to the fleet. Any other ideas would greatly be appreciated from all.

Sincerely Shadow

As you can see, they're pretty big models, class for class. More images at the auction link.

Cheif, excelent paint job, very similar to the one I put on the first kitbash I did of this fleet. I like how you flipped the fins to the rear as suggested on Stumer's site.

And that was fast these have only been for purchase not even a week now. Great Job.

Plenty big enough to work with Firestorm Armada, Wolf Shipyards, or Galactic Knights figures.
