For about the past year I've been doing a Facebook page for my local club, HDWS. Thought I'd just share it with you. link It's nothing special, just showing what games we've been playing and what's going on. Do any other clubs out there have a Facebook page? |

I have an FB page for my convention, Hotlead, which has been described as the "Annual General Meeting for the Southern Ontario Wargamers" But yes, it's a good way to get updates out there keep folks tuned in. |

I have not been a Facebook type of person, but if it gets your message out then its a useful tool. Are both your sites relatively new? They both had under 40 likes and I know they HAWKS have like a "gazillion" members. (Or could it be because of the old Folk like me?) We currently use Websites, Yahoo groups and plain old fashion E-mail to get the word out, but you got me thinking about this. We have tried a site called "Meet up" and it has gotten us a few gamer's from our area. Ascent- Nice venue you have there. Looks great for board gaming and I see you have some miniatures out. Do you get more Board gamer's than miniature players? We are currently in a Church for our Day of Games. Thank you both for the tips. |

We use Yahoogroups for our in-club communications; only members allowed. The Facebook page, and our amalgamated club blog: hawks-club.org are our public forums. You make me smile with your "gazillion members" comment, as we (the HAWKs) have only about 24 members and perhaps only half of that are really active. As you suspect, some of our members, for one reason or another, aren't on Facebook. We started the Facebook page as a way for the many convention players who enjoy our games to stay in touch with us, as well as a recruitment tool. |

We get a mix of board and miniature players, often the same people. We have an email list as well that puts important messages out there, this is just something extra. Again a lot of our members aren't on Facebook, mainly the older ones but not exclusively so the number of likes is actually quite good for the size of club I think. |
