Am looking for specific recommendations for 1/72 German Armoured cars, specifically early war types – 222 and 231. Want more the wargamer than 'fine model' end of the market. Also the same for the Opel Blitz.

What comapny should I buy from?

Cheers

Give Andy Grubb a shout at Britannia Miniatures…..

Frontline Wargaming too……all of my 'early war' sdkfz's are from them except the 6 wheeler 231's from Matchbox.

Do you want 'kits' or metal/resin stuff? I find the EWM (Early War Miniatures) guys to be great to deal with and have a great range.

PS – Gaz0045 – the Matchbox stuff is 1/76 and he said 1/72

In kits, I have found the ICM, Dragon, and some of the ESCI stuff to be excellent.

Italeri not too bad either:

Try Frontline Wargaming.

Scale Police!
The Matchbox ones are close enough……..differences only stand out when you mix manufacturers models of the same vehicle……..

I actually have two Houston 6-wheeled 231's and 4 Matchbox 232's. They are the same size, though the corners are crisper on the Matchbox kits. Stay away from the Airfix 234, though I took one of those and a Matchbox panzer 2 and made a 231 eight-wheel and a Marder 2 by swapping the turret with the 75mm gun.
