Yes and no…it's a sliding scale. Scale is one of the variables, what snack and drinks you provide is another variable. ;) |

They would look roughly the same at that scale, but weren't the uniforms a different colour by 1940? |

Would it be wrong -- of course. The lack of red trousers is a bit of a killer blow. But if that's the only way to get painted figures on a table, then that's what you have to do. |

1914 would be a problem, but 1916 is passable. All thanks to the main difference: the képi vs. the Adrien helmet. And what they said about the colours. Unless you use them as colonials, or the Légion. They wore khaki during WWI. |

Ha ha, it is always a good idea to get double (or triple) duty out of every miniature you buy. Chalfant |

Guess the FT-17's from FoW WW2 line will also fit right in with WW1. I wonder if there has been a run on those lately? |

1914 and 1940 uniforms were totally different. Right off the top was the Adrian Helmet for the 40 infantry and kepi for the 14. Then you have the cut of the overcoat and the trousers were a bit different – might not make a difference at 15mm and while the over coats were different not many will care I suppose. Also the packs were completely changed. Most of this can be over come with paint I suppose and you can still game do it, the big sort of "really" to me would be the Adrian helmet vice the Kepi – and of course the colour of the uniform itself. 1916 onward you would be in much better shape using the Horizon Bleu vice Khaki. Better a game played with "wrong" figures than no game at all. |

yes, but if you don't care what is my opinion worth |

Isn't the FOGW (Flames of Great War) or whatever they call it, about late war with all the blitz tactics and big tanks? The 1940 French would easily pass for late war French colonial/Foreign Legion troops.

I was wondering if the legion units in France in 1916-1918 had integral artillery batteries.mI have a French 1918 set up in horizon bleu and am painting up a couple of legion platoons. However, I intend to usse the Metropolitan artillery with dark blue uniforms and the Adrian helmet for the 75s |

There were differences in the kit between late WW1 and early WW2 but these are not really relevant at 15mm IMHO. The biggest difference was the LMG, with Chauchat being used in WW1. Robert |

You're a very bad, wicked man for suggesting this KB, & will be drummed out of the regiment…. () I'd do it too!
