For those interested in 'Outlaws of Sherwood' and 'Battle Troll' (and our other stuff, of course)

Battle-Troll has a long history, dating from the 1980s when I decided I wanted to do a low-level viking game where the heroes were mighty and the extras were much less so (and we didn't care that much about what happened to them, because it wasn't their saga, obviously). Also I wanted to use a form of 'paper/rock/scissors' to make personal combat a lot less like 'best die roll wins, sorry mate.' The current version came to about 80% completion in the late 1990s; I worked on it on an ancient PC at my government agency office in rural Georgia, on lunchtimes and quiet spells. It was published in MWAN at that time. The movement system and whole bunches of campaign rules and character development are much more recent, with Roderick Robertson doing the hard work on most of that. link |
