So, ordered from elheim, can't wait.. another question.. how would you play twilight 2000 as a war game? What system would be best? (Fluid and easy mechanics) thanks for the advice.. |

The premier modern game at fireteam/Platoon level is Force on force IMHO. |

at the base level it is a skirmish game. You could also look at Striker and Command Decision for larger unit actions. |

I was completely on board Twilight 2000 when it first came out, but could not convince ANY of our AD&D group to give it a go. Even though I and my fellow RPGers were all active duty USMC. You'd think they'd be on board, what with the cold war in full swing, and us being military, but no… it was all about advancing those AD&D PC's. |

Same here, twilight 2000 and gamma world were "gay" by my groups standards back when. Now even my 11 year old wants me to stop my boycott of wh40k,it's cooler he says.. :-) |

Luckily my group was T2K all the way. I think we played through every first edition module. Oh yeah. Just use T2K proper for the wargame part. Old version works perfect, no idea how the new version would work. |

I am doing this in 15mm. Slowly building up figures using mostly Peter Pig and QRF. I have the FOF rules and a couple of the add-ons. I also have slowly assembled most of the hard copy modules and purchased the two CD collections from Far Future Enterprises for the rest of the modules and old Challenge magazine articles. I will be using buildings and ruins from 5-6 different companies as well. Started this in 20mm but soon realized that 15mm was much more cost effective for all the different figures and vehicles I wanted to do. Peter Pig with headswaps are great! |

I was lucky to get a few games of T2K as well as Morrow project back in the day ,I never could get into Fantasy Like D&D… |

Use the 'lost, trying to get home' idea for a campaign. Allows a wide variety of missios/objectives and the players get to argue about supplies, tactics and map reading. I played this with DnD veterans-one of them argued that a Sov 30mm GL round shouldn't be able to kill him… |

Personally, I'm not a fan of FoF. I'd consider Flying Lead by Ganesha Games if you want just a few figures per side. If you want a larger engagement you can use Cold War Commander with the skirmish rules from Future War Commander quite well. G. |

Our group played Twilight 2000 as much or more then D&D loved the game. Did not like the second edition as much. Anyone play third? |

I still use the old first edition with a blend of the Striker rules for any bigger force on force stuff works fine for me |
