Or "it comes down to the triarii!"

picture

Some Aventine Polybian Romans, beautifully painted by mate Shaun Watson, and based by me. I'm about half way through basing up a legion of these. More on t'blog, including news of a big Pydna 168BC refight coming up at Partizan, and another Ancients weekend at the Wargames Holiday Centre on 30/31st August.

Great stuff, Simon – they look well nasty.

I think of them as crotchety fifty-something year olds with dodgy knees, problem children, geriatric parents and money worries. No wonder they are nasty, Paul! Relate to them, I do. ;-) Simon

Hi Mike, I might have known that you would have a couple of legions complete, already. ;-) Re that game, one day, one day…

Lovely mate

Great to see there are still some who share my conviction that the republicans would have painted their shields. :)

I do wonder what would happen if "Simon the Great" aka the "BigRedBat" and "James the Magnificent" aka "olicana" had a game. What type of reinforced table and how big it would have to be to hold their troops, both gentlemen like large games. It more than likely would take up some type of convention hall? Jealous oldbob

Thanks chaps!

oldbob, I take my hat off to James; he paints all his minis, whereas I only paint perhaps 30-40% of mine.

Best, Simon

I didn't forget you Mike, you just live in a different land then these two gentlemen do. Rumor as it that you had to buy a second house just for your troops!

Good stuff! I love ancients, especially when they have been done to this standard.
