I'm working on some urban terrain for our next Pulp Alley campaign and here's some photos of the first building.

There are things I'd still like to do to it, but for now I'm calling it done and it's time to move on to the next project…

Here are some photos of what it used to look like ---

That build turned out great. Looking forward to the next one.

Very nice!

What is it made from?

Who made the brick walls? They are very nice!

Looking fantastic, Dave. Have you tried the tea light in it yet? The stink pipe up the side wall really gives it charter!

Looks like it was made from Linka molds. linkaworld.com

Very nice building. Your "construction company" must be top notch.

The building looks terrific! But it suffers from the same flaw that that all other realistic model buildings have. You can't put your figures inside. I've seen buildings that lift off level by level, but I would *much* rather have a building with a removable rear wall and floors for each level. I mean that the *whole* wall should come off easily and be replaced easily, which would allow use of the entire interior. Like a doll house. I'd also like to see a fire escape large enough to put figures on.

nice work, what color did you use for the bricks?

Pulp Alley25 Jul 2014 7:44 p.m. PST

@ tberry7403 -- I cast the bricks using Merlin's Magic dental stone.

@ drummer -- I cast the bricks in sections using molds by these guys -- link

Honestly, I think this is intended to be used for small ruins rather than this sort of building. I'm not sure a sane person should attempt this.

@ Alan Lauder -- No, but I'd like to. Ant suggestions?

@ Shadow -- What you call a "flaw" I call a blessing. I enjoying looking at interiors, and respect the artistry and craftsmanship that go into making them, but as a gamer, there is nothing I find more annoying than dealing with players taking buildings apart over and over during a game and leaving roofs and floors scattered around.

Your dollhouse idea is exactly the direction I've been thinking. A couple months ago I drew plans for a multi-story hotel with the back wall missing. No, I won't make a removable wall. I'd find that just as annoying. :)

Fire Escape? -- I'd love to make fire escapes that were durable and functional. Fire escapes are a big part of urban settings and figure prominently in lots of serials and pulp stories. You got to have fire escapes, right? Here's the problem – I've done enough of this stuff to know I am not willing to invest the time required to make one that I would be happy with.

@ Redroom -- The base color is Army Painter's Fur Brown and then a much of other cheap-o paints.

THANKS to everyone for their kind comments and questions.

HAVE FUN
