Is anyone out there doing 6mm Star Wars?

If yes, what miniatures are you using?

If yes, what rules are you using?

Shalom,

Maksim-Smelchak.

I used the figure from the MPC Attack on Hoth sets (found these at KB several years ago). AT-ATs are @ 6" long

javelin9809 Jan 2005 9:03 p.m. PST

I used to have that set, but stupidly sold it when I left for the Army years ago.

Maksim (Howdy - we see each other on the 6mm Sci-FI Yahoo group), I'd love to play Star Wars in 6mm. I think that we could find a way to adapt Railgun 2300 or Dirtside for it, too.

As for minis, there's the Micromachines, but they're not in scale with each other. I'd be really interested in hearing what people are using myself.

I wonder if we could convince WOTC to produce Star Wars in a Mechwarrior scale. That would be a great source of minis.

How about making them out of sculpey? Troops could be Epic 40K or 1/300 sci-fi as appropriate, and the turrets, AT-ATs, and speeders shaped from sculpey or similar stuff. I'd do cardstock, but it seems like more work than fun at that scale.

Look at irregular miniatures miscelaneous 6mm sci fi bits and pieces. Their alien assault troops are remarkably similar to imperial storm troopers. Other troops from that range can be used for star wars bits. Their 6mm sci fi posh pack actually includes obi wan and darth vader in 6mm.

Why not just use the Ertel Battle of Hoth and Rebel Base model kits? They are 10mm but they ARE available.

Thanks,

John

Available where John? I did some searches on the net and other than a couple on ebay I can't find anyone selling them.

I got a bunch of Epic Eldar at a convention from a used games dealer and clipped the pointy helmet down and made stormtroopers. Used the AT-AT from the Hoth model set. Made stats and cards for them in Epic 2nd edition. Used Imperial Guard for Rebels. Sadly no here plays Epic anymore, and all the files died with my old hard drive.

I got of couple of the ERTL kits on eBay (I believe the same kit is sold under another name, too). I grew rather tired of Star Wars after ep. 1, so I got rid of them.

My current plans are that Ragnarok 46 will include notes on 6mm Star Wars using Hordes of the Things, and that Ragnarok 47 will include and article on Star Wars games using Dirtside II.

That's cool. I will have to keep an eye out for those sets on ebay. I have the Rebel Base kit, and it does have some good figs, though not realy enough. The downside is that these are only snowtroopers and no standard stormtroopers, so you can only do Hoth and other ice planet battles.

javelin9810 Jan 2005 2:50 p.m. PST

Maybe some Dremel action could bring out their inner Stormtrooper?

John Leahy Sponsoring Member of TMP10 Jan 2005 5:33 p.m. PST

Yep. Ebay. Ertel may be bringing back the set, too. They are reissuing other Star Wars models like the AT-At, At-St and Star Destroyer.

Thanks,

John

This is the scale Wizards should have done thier Star Wars Miniature line in!

I mean, why do 25mm-28mm Star Wars, especially when you could just go 54mm+ and use the Hasbro Star Wars Action Figures and get way better aesthetics?

javelin9810 Jan 2005 10:37 p.m. PST

I'm eager to see what scale that AT-AT is in.

John Leahy Sponsoring Member of TMP11 Jan 2005 6:39 p.m. PST

The model one? It can be used with the WEG figs. I would use it with the WOTC figs as well. The only other choice is to use the Kenner one.

Thanks,

John

According to a modeling website I checked on, the figure is 1:100 scale. This is if the model is 8" tall (the box the new AT-AT is coming out in says it'll be 9.5", so more like 1:72? Anyway, it is 9.5"x9.5"x3.5" (by the box def.) so at 1":2m, it should be around 16-20m tall on scale. WEG lists an AT-AT at 16m, but theforce.net tech pages say 22-23m. Any which way, I know I'll be getting some (attami is selling them for $10 by the way, and they're supposed to be carried by the Evil Empire, as well).

I now own a copy of the MPC Battle of Hoth kit APC and a Micromachines one and I think I prefer the MPC one.

Shabbat Shalom,

Maksim-Smelchak.

Hey, Cpt Oblivious - who's "Attami"? Do you have a link of some kind?

MaksimSmelchak02 Apr 2005 11:29 a.m. PST

Well, after much review the old AMT/ERTL action scenes are closer to 10mm than 6mm.

Shabbat Shalom,

Maksim-Smelchak.
