I am in need of an elk or stag riding figure for a character conversion. The final rider will be a female Viking type with bow, but I am willing to go through a good bit of conversion to get there. What I most need are the elk and rider's legs to fit it. |

If you want a really heroic figure, the Chronopia Sons of Kronos Monarch Stag/Elk Rider ( link ) is magnificent, and the rider is separate:
There are also lots of separate female riders in the Chronopia line, if you'd rather have a more feminine pair of legs to work with. |

That is a magnificent figure to start from! |

Well Dave, you didn't mention a scale or size and I've never seen the one jpattern2 has mentioned there but that looks pretty cool too. Feels a little on the small side to me mind for a Elk of all creatures. Being a Wood Elf player I too have waited for a decent Elk/Stag figure to come round as I think theirs is well, for better words, utter pants. Don't like the pose or the sculpt of the stag itself and never really cared much for the rider either, thought when they did it, it would be a nice model but one I'll never add to the collection. Anyways, I digress, when I found out that Mierce Miniatures had one in the pipeline I thought I'd give it a blast as I loved the sculpt of the model soon as I seen it and had all matter of conversion ideas (original viewed here :- link Yeah seems a little pricey and have the Elk assembled and currently getting the bits together for the rider conversion. See here a quick snap I took of current rough out :-
Price wise, jpattern2 is by far way cheaper and may fit your brief better with the reins in there and all but I still prefer the sculpt of the Mierce one though myself, as you can see from pic I myself am still messing around with components till I get my own conversion sorted. but hope the links and pic help. |

I checked the link a few times there to Mierce and didn't work one of the times but if you have difficulty the character your looking for is :- Leofwen, Fane-Bearer of Dēra on Great Hart If you copy that into the search it should come up. |

Nay-sayers aside, the new Wood Elf stags are easy to work with, very dynamically posed, and you can buy the beasts by themselves as bits off the secondary market for about $12 USD-15 for five of them. Pretty cheap, and up on ebay constantly, although getting just a single one might be more of a hunt. Might be able to find suitable rider legs in the GW bits listings as well, although I can't think of one that's particularly Viking-like. Probably easy enough to chop a historical figure for that part, though. |

I assume from the cross-post you are seeking 15mm. The Chronopia figure is 28mm Splintered Light has 15mm elves riding stags that might work. I don't know if the riders are cast seperately though. |

I'd agree that the New'ish GW wood Elf stags are quite nice. I'm not a huge GW fan, but my buddy bought the kit and they are very nice looking models. |

The GW stags are potentially a bit prone to breakage, though. Need to be handled a bit more carefully than most cavalry figs. If you're after 15mm elks, yes, the Splintered Light ones are available separately: link |

Either 28 or 15mm will work. My daughter's character for Fate of the Norns:Ragnarok is a Fardrengir (nomad or ranger type) who rides a Silver Stag as a mount. Just too fun a character concept not to have a go at modeling it. |

That does sound pretty neat. Photos when you're done, yeah? |

Second the Copplestone suggestion. All round great figures. For what it's worth I posted a shot here: link
