I know there hasn't been a whole lot of action in Calamity of late, but I have been working on it. More miniatures are being added to the population and I have been slaving away on one of my "Hero" buildings as well. However, since that building has just about reached the assembly point I didn't want to haul it with me this weekend. Instead I grabbed four of my freight cars (kind of at random) and decided to do a little weathering work. You can follow the process on my blog at:

Here is the finished project if you don't want to see the start to finish progression:

Quit trying to make me start Old West with all this great-looking stuff! Where are the railcars from?

These are all RTR (ready to run) freight cars from Bachmann's Spectrum line. These are On30 (for the non-model railroader that's short hand for O scale, narrow gauge running on rails that are 30" apart as opposed to standard gauge which is 4' 8 1/2" apart) so they will run on HO scale track.

I haven't gone so far in weathering mine, but I have some of that range. The coach looks quite dirty, but I haven't tried the boxcar yet (I'm working on converting it to have the roof removable.) My most weathered one is from Ozsteam (OOP) which was a craftsman kit. Have you tried the Slimrails kits? They would be easier to get on the table.

I haven't heard of those. I'll have to check them out.
