Water does not act as a retarder.

I'm pretty sure all Acrylic retarders are similar enough to be used with any Acrylic Paint Simon. Essentially it's a Glycerine compound.

I have a small bottle of Vallejo Retarder which I mix with distilled water to give me a 5% solution and I add this to all of my paint on the pallet at around 2:1 paint/Retarder Solution.

Two options that I have used – though not with those paints.

1) acrylic retarder in a tube from an artists shop, costs £5.00 GBP to £6.00 GBP

2) make or buy a stay wet palette, this keeps the paint moist for days at a time if need be, but once it hits the figure, it's drying properties are normal.
