When Ironwind started producing Mechs for Battletech, did they stay true to the original Ral Partha figures or did they fancy them up? Would, for example, a RP Griffin and an IW Griffin be pretty much the same or no?

Ironwood is the successor to Ral Partha. Same molds.

OK, cool. Thanks!

Some of the mechs from the old RP line HAVE CHANGED. Specifically "The Unseen" (e.g. the original Marauder, Warhammer, Battlemaster, Wasp, Griffon, etc.). The long story short is that FASA didn't own the rights to those images, and so the minis are out of production (forever probably).

However IWM have released new mechs with the same names, but they have little or no resemblance to the originals.

That's what I was missing – thanks, optional!

Unfortunately the new versions of the "unseen" look like they were modelled with lego bricks…

Yeah, you'll find a bit of controversy over the unseen mechs and their reseen versions. Unfortunately those are some of the most iconic designs. Fortunately those are only a small fraction of the mech designs produced by Ral Partha and/or IWM.

Unfortunately, those are also some of the designs that I liked the best!
