So, what kind of minis, scenary or concepts would you like to see explored?

Me, I'd like to see:

More post appocaliptic stuff.
More Votoms/Heavy Gear type mecha.
Complete lines of airtransport, Dropzone Commander style.
Big city buildings.(not GW style)
Windows, doors, vents… for scratch building.

I know there's a lot of stuff out there already but I want more! Got to feed my "Oh Shiny!" habit ;-))

"Windows, doors, vents… for scratch building."

Yes, I'd like to see more of that too. I could spend the time ,aking some but I've other pressing concerns but I do like to do a bit of modelling so using pre-made bits to create my own building would be great.

I looked at the windows and things but came to the conclusion it would be too costly.

I would want them designed in CAD and 3D printed so that that they are extra nice.
Then as the packs of them would have a good few items in them and I may need to make LOTS of them I figured metal would be the way to go.

That would cost a fortune compared to what I would make.

For a breakdown of some of my costs to get models to market check out my forum:

More post appocaliptic stuff.

More Stonehaven stuff coming so we are part way there!

I would like to see a series of city buildings, square and rectangular that can handle the older Space Marine bases or the newer strip bases. They don't need to have a lot of detail I could use multiple copies of the same designs. I would like to place the bases on the roof to represent infantry being inside. I am talking large buildings like apartment complexes, sky scrapers etc… to build a sprawling city table.

I would also like to see fortifications there seems to be a lack of them unless I have overlooked some manufacturer. To be specific strands of razor wire, tank traps, trenches that can handle strips or square bases, bunkers, hull down positions for vehicles.

Have you all looked at, or mentioned any of this to the model companies on Tac Cmd ? Onslaught, Exodus Wars, Plasmablast, TMG, Microworld, Angel Barracks [oops, I see he's on this thread !], DRM … ? link Trenches – link link Structures – link link link store.gcmshop.com Gentlemen … I continue to lead you all to water … but you still don't drink … beer evil grin

There's another website that has a big 6mm following, but I can't remember what it was. Maybe someone else can provide it… evil grin

Seriously:

Rebel Minis & Khurasan Minis SciFI lines in 6mm
More individual "character" type minis

There is a 6mm sci-fi site on Yahoo. But I don't find it as broad or helpful as Tac Cmd … The other site, IIRC is Dakka, Dakka … Yes, I like Khurasan's 6mm Aliens … I may even get some !

I have been playing with a 3D design program to make some of what you are talking about.

What do you think of these as far as doors go? I like the way they look, but am not sure about size? These are about 7-8mm tall. I think Maybe I need to make them about 10mm tall, but then that might be too tall.

The round doors could be vents as well. I would appreciate your thoughts on these.

And here is an early building design. Not large, but not the gothic look typical of GW. I am thinking about how to scale this up to a larger building as well.

Again, comments welcome.

I like all the doors exept for the (blast?)doors on the left. Its not a bad design but they are more or less floating in the air at the moment, maybe if you put somekind of border around them?
As to the size I would say go 10mm, most 6mm scifi figures are closer to 7, sometimes 8mm add a base to them and you are looking at 9 to 10mm anyways.
That being said if you were to put them up on shapeways as is I'd probabely include them in my next order.
You also might want to take a look at Brigade Models set of doors link

The building looks good to, be sure to keep us updated on that.

oh meant to say, any ideas for new things can also be posted here:

The one level part of the building is currently 15mm and the two level part is 30mm. If I make the Doors 10mm, should I make the building 20mm per level?

stroezie18 Jul 2014 11:49 a.m. PST

I'd say leave it at 15mm. Most real life doors are higher than 2/3 of a single story.

sean6833318 Jul 2014 11:55 a.m. PST

Oh, and good point stroezie. Now that you say that about the leftmost door. I see that there is no place for the plates to move to. I will adjust that.

I did a bunch of Scopedog conversions for GZGs not VOTOMs range. So ask Jon when they are due to be released.

I want someone to put SJGames Ogre line back into production…

Dragon Gunner18 Jul 2014 7:38 p.m. PST

@ Legion

I have the links you provided earlier Daemonscape was not one of them thank you that one manufacturer has most of what I need. Blotz will also be quite useful. How did I overlook Gamecraft they have the buildings I need? I guess the only things left are cool stands of razor wire emplacements. Do you have a link for razor wire Legion?

Oh ! Sorry I may have missed that one … I'm old ! old fart … For concertina, I just swirl thin wire, like florists use, around a small thin piece of round sprue. Pull it off, cut to the lengths I like. Paint it black, dry brush metal and maybe a little wash of a rust color. And glue it on a flocked base … easy … I'm surprised I don't have a pic of those I made … huh? old fart Also unless, I missed posting it, Brigade also makes a nice range of 6mm structures of all types – link link link

Also check on Tac Cmd, there is a bunch of Epic, as well as other 6mm SF producers on the Trade forum/threads … which is generally very much the norm for the site … link link
