Wargames Factory plastics from steel washers with Zap-a-Gap?

Any ideas that will protect it all?

There is a gel you can buy that will melt CA glue, should be sold right next to the glue itself. Sorry I can't remember the name of it, but I use it.

have you tried freezing the figures?

Freezing would be my first try. If it's styrene from steel it should work well.

Freeze and then dunk in hot water.
Rinse and repeat.
That is the differing thermal expansion method.

Zap-a-Gap is also cyanoacrylate. Letting it stand in hot water will degrade the bond.

Both methods should work without affecting any paint job or the assembly itself.

Anything that specifically attacks super glue I would not trust on either styrene or paint. Hot water will simply infiltrate the bond, and will add to the freezing and dunking shock.

Yes using the differential in the thermal expansion is what I would try as well.

Place figure is freezer for a few hours.

Heat up a large frying-pan or griddle to just under 100 C (212 F). Easy to test with a drop of water.

Place figures with washer in contact with heated surface for 15-30 sec.

The plastic and glue should remain cold and contracted while the metal washer with heat up and expand, cracking free of the glue.

Luckily none of it's painted or primed.

In the freezer now – I'll let you know.
