Because it comes up from time to time and because Khurasan makes such cool stuff, a reminder of what's available thus far :)

DAMN!!!!

I missed these! As punishment for my dereliction, a sustained period of self-flagellation is required.

AFTER the bugs have been released.

(Hint, hint…)

Last I heard, the bugs were proving to be a challenge to cast. I'd sure like to have some, though.

Pendraken miniatures do so some pretty good SST bug look a likes but i believe they are £1.00 GBP each so a swarm maybe a bit costly.

Bugs, Mister Khurasan, where are they?!? evil grin

Sargonarhes17 Jul 2014 5:33 p.m. PST

Bugs Mr Lion, hundreds of them. Khurasan has them. (well maybe not hundreds)

Scroll down until you see Parasachnid

Lfseeney17 Jul 2014 9:13 p.m. PST

They are great models.

Have a full set.

Privateer4hire17 Jul 2014 10:15 p.m. PST

The Parasachrids are great minis if you want to play Mongoose's more movie centric version in 15mm.

But the Aranae are specially fitted to the universe Heinlein talked about in the book.

Khurasan has two PA ranges that work for SA… look at the "Corporate Marine Special Assault Brigade" on this page:

They come with energy weapons, flamers, and back-mounted grenade racks. KM's corsair's probably have more accurate armaments, and CM PA is closer to the size I like, but I'll always want the Starship Troopers suits that were on the cover of my first copy of that book:

Call me spoiled.

EDIT: That said, I love that KM is making Skinnies, and his concepts for the arachnids are by far the most suitable.

Can't wait to see the Aranae when they eventually show up!

My first exposure to the PA suits were from the cover of the box to the old Avalon Hill SST boardgame back in 1978:

Perhaps fortunately most minis don't generally look like that, though there is definitely something 'pulpy' about this depiction…and possibly it matches 'man in a suit looks like a steel gorilla' more than many more practical designs would prove lol.

I do dig the Khurasan corsairs. Keep trying to figure out a reason to buy them!

Are there any pics out there with the Corsairs along side other models? Grunts/bugs/etc.

I'm still tempted by the Parasachnids, because I did like (still do like) the movie (singular, there are no sequels) and the CGI TV series. OK, I might be persuaded to take the Marauder suits from the SST:Marauders movie, too.

Might do both, use the Parasachnids as the worker drones, Aranae as the warriors.

I have always thought Blue Moon's "Orion" Troops would make for great SST just need Bugs

I think they would blend in nicely with Khurasan's Corsairs

Those are indeed nice; it's just a pity that Blue Moon has so many factions with nothing but a single basic infantry pack. If they would flesh some of them out with heavy weapons, command, assault, etc., I'd consider investing in them.

Another decent PA choice is Khurasan's "Federal Marine Special Assault Brigade in Power Armour":

I have about fifty of these guys that I'm converting for use in 15mm Space Hulk.

EDIT: Ooops! Sorry, Fritadas; I missed where you had already pointed these guys out.

darthfozzywig18 Jul 2014 12:13 p.m. PST

There are also these guys:

picture

Conveniently, also from Khurasan. :D

Sargonarhes18 Jul 2014 5:05 p.m. PST

Well Lion, I can understand that, seeing that the warrior bugs in the book are mentioned as using a beam weapon. Stupid races don't build starships.

But haven't you seen the CGI movie Starship Troopers: Invasion?
link

It's a better sequel to the movie than the others. And General Johnny Rico has one bad powered armor suit he flies down in near the end.

Lion in the Stars19 Jul 2014 12:00 p.m. PST

@Sargonarhes: Nope, haven't seen that one. Saw the previews, wasn't totally sold. May have to netflix it or see if the library has it.

@War Monkey: I dunno, the Corsair suits are like 35mm tall!

War Monkey19 Jul 2014 2:04 p.m. PST

Yes their tall, but I would use them as my marauders suits
