As I said I orderd a gun, it took two weeks but I got it

So this is My HK416 airsoft thingy.

I went to my parents loft, and found my old Colt Commando.

Took the silencer and redpoint from it and put it on my gun.

The redpoint and silencer is cammo painted, the gun is not.

picture

I have now learned what I need to do to make it a "SEAL" HK416.

I'll base it on the ones used by SEAL TEAM SIX when they got Bin Ladin.

So I'll need a propper silencer, PEQ box 15, magpull stock, new front grip, EOTECH and EOTECH maginifer. Surefire M600 weapons light.

I also have to concider a new rail, however, it costs $1,200 USD and is hard to get(semi blackmarket)
So have to wait that one.

Also I'm apartment sitting at my parents, so I can not play any computergames or paint, so I got bored and orderd Kydex pistol holsters for my a SIG P226 and 1911.
And a fake AOR2 uniform.

What is airsoft? I'm familiar with paintball, is it the same thing?

DS615115 Jul 2014 5:49 p.m. PST

It's like paintball, but uses small plastic BB's instead of paintballs.
Generally the guns are more real looking.

Baron Trapdoor15 Jul 2014 6:21 p.m. PST

I liken it to hitting a hornets nest with a golf club as opposed to being hit in the head with a steel ball bearing.

Neither is much fun, but airsoft is an exception, it's a hoot!

Stryderg15 Jul 2014 7:05 p.m. PST

I think the BB's come out the muzzle around 300 feet per second, where a "proper" BB gun (firing metal BB's) packs around 1200 – 1700 feet per second.

Airsoft grew out of the Western blockbuster inspired model gun craze of the 70's and 80's. Weapons range from crappy plastic spring-powered blobs to sophisticated electric or gas powered replicas that mimic the functionality of the guns their modelled after to a T.

I've played since the late 90's. The best way to buy is go straight to the source--internet order from Asia. There are some good US stores like Evike and Airsoft Extreme, but if you save your cash and do big orders only a few times a year, the savings justifies the high postage.

Airsoft in norway is mostly "governd" by Norwegian air soft assosian.

It has sevral rules.

For CQC/CQB Max FPS is 300. and 300fps is about the standard most of the guns come in.
For open field games, Max for FULLAUTO weapons is 350fps
MAX for Semi auto weapons is 450 FPS(like designated marksmen rifles ect) and there is a saftey range of 20meters, so no shooting at people with in 20 meters.
Max for bolt action rifles is 550fps with saftey limit at 30 meters.

With the 550 sniper, you can hit a guy at well over 100 yards.

A new rail for a Airsoft (glorified pellet gun) costs $1,200 USD?

I suspect you can get a complete, real, working weapon for around that.

A new rail for a Airsoft (glorified pellet gun) costs $1,200.00 USD USD?
I'm hoping that's a typo. Otherwise…

I suspect you can get a complete, real, working weapon for around that.
You are correct:

$969.99 USD and you will truly dominate your airsoft games! :)
link
$1,299.99 USD and it comes with a built-in rail!

chironex17 Jul 2014 2:42 a.m. PST

Either way, 'round my way you have some explaining to do to a magistrate, whichever of those you buy.

Gunfreak Supporting Member of TMP17 Jul 2014 3:54 a.m. PST

The rail cost that much because its for real weapons. High end military and police only

Seriously?!?

Jeez, someone with a real rail and some strong, semiflexible resin could make a killing supplying non-firearms-rated parts to European airsofters!

I mean, I can buy 12" aluminum picatinny rail sections rated for a real rifle for $30 USD (and those are the expensive ones)!

Some problebly allready does.

Like all hobbies you can do what you want with in.

In America airsoft is huge and span a huge gauntles money spending levels.

From people running around in surplues amry woodland BDUs and LC-2 webbing from the 80s

Total kit 30bucks pluss the gun, that cost about 200 bucks.

On the other side, you have groups that are almost paremilitary many with real military experience, buying Cry uniforms that cost 700 dollars, plate carrier wests costing 4000 dollars, then a gun that cost 500-1200 dollars, then they make it custom with real weapon pars, stocks, rails, sights, lights grips.

I've got plans for buying an EOTECH, that cost about 600 dollars, they have airsoft replicas that cost 100 bucks, but I want the real thing(allready had an EOTECH 552, but sold it when I stopped the hobby a few years back)

High End airsofters are basicly fasion slaves.

They want the newest and shiniest toys.

I orderd a replica AOR2 uniform, cost me 120 bucks, but that is just a go between untill I save up to by the real Cry AOR 2 uniform, that cost 700 bucks.

Tactical gear and weaponparts can be restricted and you have to get "dealers"

Naturaly Special forces gear and weapon parts are more expencive and hard to get then regular line troops.

So if you want a regular army guy or Marine, it's easier and cheaper, then doing Forc recon, SEALs, Delta, SAS ect.

SouthernPhantom17 Jul 2014 3:59 p.m. PST

$1,200 USD for a rail? As in, a Picatinny or MIL-STD 1913 mount for optics or weapon lights? I…just what the hell? I can drive to my local Shoot Straight and pick up an AR, with rail, and either an optic or a few hundred rounds for that kind of money.

Lion in the Stars17 Jul 2014 7:54 p.m. PST

Heck, here in the US you gotta be careful buying cheap optics, as most of them are airsoft look-alikes.

But seriously, a simple scope-mount rail is $1,200 USD?!? Jeez, maybe I should scrape together some $$ and start casting them in resin for the overseas crowd that can't just go to Cabellas or hit Cheaper than Dirt for a firearm-spec rail…

Gunfreak Supporting Member of TMP18 Jul 2014 2:29 a.m. PST

Nobody would by them in resin, all our guns are metal,

This is the rail in question link

Lion in the Stars18 Jul 2014 9:08 a.m. PST

Oh, you're talking the whole dang handguard, not a single strip of picatinny rail. Yeah, that's a bit more complicated…

Might still be able to make one in plastic (since you don't have a barrel heating problem with airsoft), but it would have to be injection-molded. Expensive to set up in the first place, and unlikely to sell anywhere people can get a real one.

Though getting a real one seems to be a bit of a challenge, since Remington themselves are only selling to Military and Law Enforcement…

Flecktarn18 Jul 2014 12:08 p.m. PST

Gunfreak,

I took up airsoft during my stay in Britain and am slightly baffled by your approach. Why buy a genuine EOtech for $600 USD when you are going to mount it on an airsoft rifle that only shoots 50-60m and which has a level of accuracy that is quite badly affected by even a slight breeze?

I also do not understand the "dressing up as a particular type of soldier" habit of some airsoft players; most of the people that I was friendly with wore whatever they felt like and carried whatever equipment that wanted. I wore flecktarn (of course), a cheap chest rig, and carried a Masada or an M4A1.

It was great fun but the "geardos", as my British friends called them, were regarded with a degree of bemused amusement.

Thats just the way it is in most of norway, and as i said, its a fasion thing, like not using a fake prada bag, only for boys, denmark has gone the other way, cheap ass clothing, and sights, but spends thousands on interanals, do the guns shoot 600-750 fps, its called speedball, the players often get bbs stuck under the skin.

And dressing up as a spesific unit, is just the same as ww2/vitnam reenactors, i still have an aeg garand, and m42 and m43 american ww2 uniforms. With webbing. I used to have a full vietnam kit to before it got stolen

shrike618 Jul 2014 8:55 p.m. PST

Some of the Asian custom houses might make the RIS handguard you want for 1-200 bucks. What sites do you shop on?

Gunfreak Supporting Member of TMP22 Jul 2014 10:19 a.m. PST

I decided to go temporarly budget.

First I found a cheaper rail, that cost 600 bucks instead of 1200, then I found a airsoft replica of it, for 80 bucks.

I also bought a fake EOtech for 60 bucks.

Those to alone saved me some 1100 dollars.

I bought a fake PEQ15 box(not gonna buy as real one, they are iligal for civilians to own, and they cost like 5000 4000 bucks.

The only two things I'm missing in the underrail grip and Surefire light, the surefire I just have to buy the real one, cost about 300 bucks.

shrike622 Jul 2014 6:04 p.m. PST

The Hong Kong Custom shop G & P makes some repro Surefire products that are just as good as the real deal. Frankly, unless it's inexpensive or you're planning to have a real steel weapon, purchasing real accessories is a bit over the top. For my Iraq deployment, I actually purchased an improved pistol grip, Crane stock, and a special foregrip that fastened to my M203 from airsoft manufacturers. Saved me 300 bucks. Heck, it all came out of the same factories in China.

CAG 1923 Jul 2014 1:34 p.m. PST

As an active airsofter with a bad wargames habit as well I do shop wider than I would normally to fund both hobbies, which is why I had a bit of a gap in the painting as I was too busy blinging up my guns. Now in the process of taking stuff off and going lighter. As a result my amazon account has also had a good bashing and there are some reasonable replicas out there.

Just taken the PEQ box off my 416 as the site I have used recently is under the Bristol airport flight path and they have a no lasers policy plus it just added weight. Sure fire etc again depends on where you are gaming, don't need it for the rural sites.

The 416

The L96

Currently running a L96 with a TM Mk23 as a back up on a more regular basis because I am getting on a bit. The 416, MICH2000 and Paraclete RAS come out occasionally but only in FIBUA/MOUT where it provides bump protection.
