Anybody know what the TED in FAA miniatures code stands for, Thanks in advance, Gundog!

I think it stands for Tedeschi---Italian for German??

dwight shrute14 Jul 2014 4:55 p.m. PST

tedischi .. ??

nazrat14 Jul 2014 6:37 p.m. PST

I know they are standard German soldiers, but why FAA called them Tedeschi I can't imagine. I avoided buying them for a long time because there were no pictures and I wasn't sure what the term meant. Somebody on The Guild posted some photos of the figures so I finally bought some.

I wondered about that as well. Here's a little bit about it:

I also read somewhere that it was especially common amongst Canadian troops who picked it up in Italy.

Ya the name thing threw me as well. I just gave up and figured they were Germans. I just finished another Squad. Nice miniatures, they mix with my plastics and some SHQ.

I think they use this code because they represent the mid-war Germans who would have fought on the Italian front. Rolled up sleeves and such. Their British range are very much in the same light kit for Italy.

I think agrippa has it – that rings a loud bell ..

Correct, when the original figures where done by Dave Allsop for John Bruce of MLR they were given TED as the code as it was short for Tedischi in Italian and the original ranges were meant for Italy.

John stuck with that when he swopped to Paul Barnshaw as the designer so I guess it stuck, just a crying shame you can't get the FAA Paul Barnshaw designed figures any more as the new owner is impossible to deal with

According to John Bruce, they are in fact modeled after the Italian campaigns. The primary difference between them and the Classic German Infantry series is the bloused vs. tucked pants. They are essentially German Army '43 to '45, while CGI is early war. Photos are going up on the website and our facebook page as they get produced. We are taking 1 or 2 per series at first, and then filling in.

well you need to get a UK distributor, I have at least 2500 of the figures and would like some more but your shipping costs are just too much

Eller5212 Sep 2014 1:08 p.m. PST

We'll said Blacky750, I have a big wish list but the shipping costs are prohibitive. A UK distributor would be most welcome.
