So, when the new TMP comes along will we move the old boards across?
Will we start again with new boards?

What boards are essential and what are pointless?
What boards would you like to see?

Have I got any real reason for starting this thread?

Michael.

All Boards are essential to those who use them.

Angel Barracks14 Jul 2014 12:19 p.m. PST

I use this board but could easily live without it and just have a general board, not essential at all for me…

:D

There are too many sub-boards. Right now, for example, if I want to know if a given Warhammer 28mm fantasy figure can be matched in 15mm, i need to post to the following:

Fantasy Discussion
28mm Fantasy
15mm Fantasy
Fantasy Product Reviews
Warhammer

and also "Mordheim" if the Warhammer figure at issue happens to be also a Mordheim figure for WFB.

There is a lot of this sort of thing.

You would be happy with say, just 'Fantasy' then?

kallman14 Jul 2014 12:35 p.m. PST

I have to agree with Angel Barracks Rwphillipsstl. In the example you have given I would just go for the most general topical board and perhaps one other and leave it at that. However I would agree that the plethora of boards is sometimes a bit on the ridiculous side but as OFM pointed out those extra boards are important to those that use them.

Well, it would not be such a big deal if (a) you didn't get in trouble for "excessive" cross-posting (which in my book would be if in the above example I posted on "Napoleonic" boards for my fantasy question), or (b) people did not defend guys like Tango who post 30 items in a row on multiple boards.

I am not against sub-boards, I just think there are a few too many in some sections.

I would imagine that everyone will be ported over.

Specialty Boards encourage more threads on that topic.
It worked for AWI and Flames of War and TSATF.

I agree with the OF- er, Winston. If there is such a thing as the front page in the next TMP, then the number of boards doesn´t really matter. Besides, it gives people the chance to write "why did you post this on the x board?"
And, as the late great Security Minister Critter used to say, more boards, lovely!

RavenscraftCybernetics14 Jul 2014 2:26 p.m. PST

2 boards are needed… one for miniatures and one for off-topic discussion.

In this age of hyper customization on TMP, I'd love to see scales I don't play filtered out of my beloved period boards.

Seriously, what good are 12-man Napoleonic regiments in 6mm???

I would imagine that everyone will be ported over.

Could I be merloted over instead? wine

Who knows if boards will even exist, perhaps they will replaced with user defined tags? I suspect the lot will just get copied as is.

We only need two boards, wargaming and other stuff.

streetline15 Jul 2014 3:27 a.m. PST

I want to know if a given Warhammer 28mm fantasy figure can be matched in 15mm,

And Figure Finder. Or maybe just figure finder…

Winston Smith15 Jul 2014 4:43 a.m. PST

I would eliminate Figure Finder. No one knows it's there and if anyone wants to ask about a figure they go to the period Boards.

It's handy to have one that sits under General for more generic enquiries. I use it and haven't come up empty yet.

Edit –

All Boards are essential to those who use them.

As some one once said.

stenicplus15 Jul 2014 7:32 a.m. PST

We could vote on it….

I'll get me coat.

StarfuryXL515 Jul 2014 10:18 p.m. PST

I believe it was Connard Sage who used to say, "More boards, lovely."

Robert Kennedy16 Jul 2014 1:15 p.m. PST

Hmmmmm…..Might be good to start all over again. That way all those who get annoyed being shown that a topic has already been discussed before and those who like to point that out won't have to have a problem with eachother wink LOL.
