Can anyone suggest a source for 28mm sci-fi vehicle crew figures? These would be for relatively conventional fictional/futuristic AFVs. I'd be interested in ideas for figures or heads for figure conversions as well. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dismounted or sticking out of a turret?

iKore/Void had a couple of the latter in their range IIRC. So maybe Scotia Grendel is worth a look? In the Viridians, IIRC.

Edit: My mistake: Vasa…

There are some Viridian Crew, in sitting type positions, but IIRC, they only come as riders for the Howdahs (spelling?) on the large "Behemoth" dino creatures. They might be willing to sell them separately.

Alternatively, they're on the small side, perhaps closer to 25mm, but Denizen ( link Federation grav bike riders are coded separately.

SF44 and SF45 are the rider codes and they're cheap. You can also order their helmet pack to give you a wider choice of heads as seen here:

I've got rider SF44 with a Ventauran head inside one of my mecha.

Note though that the helmets are going to be too small for converting current heroic size miniatures.

I was looking for both dismounted and in the hatch.

Thanks for the suggestions thus far.

You can also just pick a figure you like who is dismounted and buy 2 of them cut one in half and put him in the hatch

I cut some of my VOID figures in half and did just that for some of the VOID vehicles I have.

Or just buy the torso, heads and arms from Pig Iron and you don't even need to do any cutting!

Of course, there's always GW IG tanker figures and Tau crew. It is pretty darned easy to do nice conversions with plastics, such as using a body from one source and a helmet (or bare head) from another.

The denizen rider figs do not have a standing equivalent, but Pig Iron is a great option if the hatches on your vehicles are big enough.

The GW figs are actually a pretty good option. As long as your other minis are a chunky heroic 28mm, the Cadian Plastics have a nice generic look to them that can be used for a variety of things. With the release of the command kits and compatible Catachan (Rambo'ish guys) you can make quite a variety of figures.

They can be bought various places as bits, or if you ask around, you're likely to find an IG player with extra parts.

Here's a driver for my Post Apoc tanker truck made entirely of GW IG parts. I was even able to use arms from the Heavy Weapon kit to put his hand on the steering wheel and shifter.

Doug from EM-4 is re-releasing the Spacelords crew, civilians, and adventurers. You have to email him for purchases, enquiries@em4miniatures.com

You can see them on the LAF future board.
