I remember hearoing that the new robotech tactoics minis are 1/285th scale. is this correct? or did it change before production? What about the IWM mechs, nor,mal are 1/160? Or 1/144? And thier battleforce are 1/285th? Hard to find on thier sight. So, when I fianly get the RT tactics, what other mechs will scale OK with them? I did RT many years ago, and had a lot of fun. But eventualy we got burned out on always using the same things. so a few odd different mechs would be cool to have, but not sure what to get. Any pointers? |

Part of the problem is that the 'Unseen' mechs got shrunk severely to fit Battletech scale. IIRC, the metal Battletech minis are nominally 1/300 scale, with most minis ~25-35mm tall. The Robotech Valks are ~60mm tall standing on 40mm diameter bases, IIRC, and a Glaug is going to be nearly 80mm tall. for better scale matching if you want minis to match the Robotech size, I think you'd be better off chasing down the old Clix minis. The clix minis are nominally 10mm, or 1/160 scale (I think). As long as you scrounge through the lists for the most common mech, you shouldn't have to pay too much for them. |

I suppose I could dig out my pre-historic spacemarine Terminators that have not seen daylight in 25 years. they should do fine at about 30mm. And they are so old probably nobody will even recognize them. Of course none of this matters until robo tactics comes out anyway. |

For what ever reason, I have never understood what the "unseen mechas" are. I suspect I can blame that on the long poeriod of toime i spent in germany, well before the net for you youngsters who want to know why I didnt just look it up. can I be inlightened? |

The "unseen' were a series of Battletech figures that were based on various mecha from shows or comics. The people FASA dealt with for the rights turned out to not actually have the rights for those particular designs, so they were changed. |

So FASA pulled ALL the designs for those mecha – even the ones NOT based on Macross stuff (the main HG issues). This included the ones from the shows "Crusher Joe" AND "Fang of the Sun; Battle Armour Dougram". I didn't mind them losing the ex-macross stuff. But from what I know, HG didn't exactly have the rights to CJ or dougram, either. |

@Weasel: You have that backwards. The guys Harmony Gold bought the rights from didn't own the rights that HG thought they were buying. @Chromedog: HG didn't have the rights they thought they did to the Macross models, either, but that didn't stop FASA from pulling the designs that FASA had licensed from their original creators! The case was decided in FASA's favor (in something like 2006, after 15-odd years of litigation!), but it took so dang long to unsnarl that FASA commissioned new art for those mechs. I just wish that FASA had stuck with the art they'd commissioned for the Japanese release of the BT game and books: link |
