I shall look forward to the write ups on your blog, I always enjoy reading about new ideas and people thinking about what they are doing as a hobby. |

Hey, 'Passiveaggressive'. Why don't you let your clever screen name stand on its own? You don't actually have to type anything. Seriously, the negative waves are tedious. Have a drink. No, really, have a drink. |

Is my head in the sand! As a wargamer for over 40 years, an active member of a club and TMP. I have never hear of a Conference of Wargamers. This is not paranoia just interested, what are it aims and objectives ? |

Mac1638, From the WD website: Wargame Developments (WD) is a group of like-minded wargamers who are dedicated to developing wargames. It is a non-commercial organisation, and its aims are: * To provide a forum for the exchange of new ideas and concepts. *To develop both new and existing methods of recreating military conflicts. Wargame Developments was founded in 1980, and since then it has pursued its aims in several different ways. These include: *Running an annual conference (COW – the Conference Of Wargamers). *Publishing a regular journal (The NUGGET) that is sent to all members nine times per year. *Putting on participation games at major wargames shows in the UK in order to demonstrate the sort of developments in wargaming that are being undertaken by members of WD. *Supporting groups of members who are working together to develop particular ideas and concepts (e.g. Megablitz – a set of operational level rules for twentieth century warfare – and Matrix Games). The Conference of Wargamers In 1980 Dr. Paddy Griffith, who was then a lecturer in War Studies at RMA Sandhurst, organised a conference entitled "New Directions In Wargaming". The conference was held at Moor Park College near Farnham, and lasted over the weekend of 23rd to 25th May 1980. It was at this conference that Wargame Developments was founded, and it set the pattern for all the subsequent conferences. Each conference includes plenary/core, workshop, and practical sessions. And here I thought COW was the convention of women. You know a great place to pick up female wargamers. |
