I could even try making something as simple as these Valdivian stone "owl" plaques (from Ecuador):
link link I'm torn. I also like the slightly less abstract face on this Mezcala fertility idol (from Guerrero, Mexico):
HOWEVER … The ones TSofian posted above look absolutely amazing, specially the smaller ones. I prefer something no taller than 2 or 3 inches. A one inch tall one would be even better. And I kinda like their "reptilian" look. Those in his pic actually remind me a little of the Kothoga idol from the film Relic:

And it seems like a toy manufacturer made a small version of the Kothoga idol at some time:

I found some 'Pukel-men' style gargoyle miniatures in the shop at York minster – about two inches tall and rough stone. Might be worth looking in similar tourist shops around old cathedrals, abbeys, etc. |
