A friend of mine and I are embarking on our long delayed 20mm project for skirmish gaming. For 44-45 NW Europe going with AB. With the recent redo of their figures and being carried by Eureka US a very good selection but always interested in any other infantry figures which might be compatible with AB. We are also interested in doing Pacific. Eureka has some nice US Marines and Japanese figures but more limited choice. Any other figures work well with the Eureka Marines and Japanese? Thinking in both cases any support weapons especially. As always, thank you! |

AB are on the small size for being compatible with many makes/ S.H.Q are a similar size. Kelly's heroes have some have U.S.M.C & Jap's also smallish. You can get them from grubby tanks but do not mix up with Britania from the same source as by comparison they are huge. Also take a look at Early War Miniatures for Jap support weapons Ian ( Shellhole & 20mmZone) |

The Fantassin SS figures fit in well with AB, which make up the bulk of my WW2 collection. I haven't looked at Fantassin's other ranges, but they do USMC and Japanese so might be worth checking out: link I have some SHQ figures (British Paras, SS, Heer) but generally I don't think their different style works that well with AB. |

I freely mix AB with Battlefield, Blitz, FAA, CP, Foundry, Plastic Soldier Company, Sojers, Shellhole, Fantassin/Warmodelling, and Elheim. There are indeed small differences in size but not enough to tell at war-game distance (3-4 feet). I have a few SHQ but they are my least favorite sculpts out of all these manufacturers so I won't recommend them. I also have not yet bought Wartime or Kelly's Heroes but I am planning on it! My Pacific collection remains 28mm so I can't rely give any advice there. |

Wartime minis are an excellent match for AB. |

I have AB with Fantassin and the Perry Foundry sculpts. These are US infantry figures. I reckon they are all pretty compatible BUT to my eye none of them come close to the AB for quality of sculpt etc. I appreciate the point about limited range of AB, that's why I got the other makes. Fantassin certainly offer a good choice, but quality of sculpt and casting is very variable. Foundry offer US in winter uniform as well as ordinary kit and support weapons. link One range that is not very compatible is Empress. I think they are really a 25 mm figure. They are nice sculpts ( although heads are a bit small). Not sure what range is like for these. |
