Dear All,

picture

On Sunday the NSW BattleGroup Kursk Demo team laid on a game at the Hall of Heroes, base around Ponyri Station in the Northern sector.

Very nice! I am putting the final touches on my planned Kursk game (like you, I have a long-time fascination with the battle). My scenario is on the initial attacks in the south by GD.

Don't have a blog, but will post results following Historicon.

Sweet looking game! Love the BattleGroup rules.

Thank mate! Yes they are seriously good rules – the ability to select either area fire, to brass up an area or indistinct target to suppress, or direct fire to kill, much harder, seems to me to be very authentic. Similalry, although the indirect artillery fire procedures, though a long process, seem to give historical results. But the ace is the ability to put units in overwatch – very tactical!

How big was the table?

Sparker11 Jul 2014 3:42 p.m. PST

Oh yes much more Kursk Steven, Heaven Forfend! – but over a weekend I think!

Table was 12' x 6'. Hence, after the Soviet pre game bombardment we actually started with a German move. Counterintuitive I know, as the Russians are defending, at least initially, but makes up for the fact they start off staring down Russian muzzles with this layout…
