As a change from the big open day games, we ran a quick one versus two detachment game.

Referencing the questions asked by Trojan Points on this thread TMP link about game size, this was an example of a two person, lots of line-of-sight breaking scenery, three detachment game on an 8ft by 6ft table with an FDF force (1 detachment) split and coming on from different directions to attack an emplaced CdB force in the buildings.

It was over in about four or five turns.

As always stunning eye candy that we have all come to expect from your games and modeling reports John, and another good reason for a reprint of 'The Crucible' with full army lists, all five supplements and a few extra pics. :) Zac

To second avamango, I have downloaded every free PDF you have available pretty much just for the eye candy… though i have also enjoyed the org charts, come to think of it; i guess 50/50. Makes me almost interested in hammer's slammers

Nice looking game. Where could I pick up some of those road sections?

MarkRyan09 Jul 2014 12:06 p.m. PST

Excellent looking game!

jpwalker – the roads are one of the things we most get asked about. You need a Tomy Tomica 85204 Road Accessory Pack.

They used to be cheaper than they currently are (about £10.00 GBP a pop on Amazon) but they are nly currently available ia the likes iof eBay. This one auction went for just over a fiver but I cant find any others at the moment and I've seen them go over £20.00 GBP a set. I have about three sets.

You'll also need to spray them a little to distress them. They come as quite shiney card (they are thick and robust) but I hit them with spray Dark Earth, spray matt black, both in light mists to break up the regularity of them, and then allover with some spray matt varnish.

Everyone else: thanks for the kind words, as ever :) L4 Lt Colonel Benoit was not a happy bunny… :)

Where did you get the intact apartment towers?

John Treadaway09 Jul 2014 2:05 p.m. PST

Mattblackgod – they are Kato N guage model railway items. You can see lots and lots of them and similar structures on the gallery pages on the Slammers site: try the Salute 2013 page as a starting position.

Looks like there are more Kato buildings listed than last time I looked.

Yep: some good prices there too. Cheaper than a resin building and they're lighter and already painted (and with clear bits too!).

You have to be careful which ones you buy and occasionally I augment the doors where they look too small (I add 15mm resin ones from Antenociti) but – other than that – they're a really good buy for urban SF where you don't always want everything to look ruined!
