I love the Alien movies. Here is a picture of the models I use to represent them on the table. I use these for Tomorrows War and plan to use them in Future War Commander Skirmish.

Those look very nice! Cool color choices.

They look great and the QRF Alien's are a good alternative to the Khurasan ones, if your looking to expand the brood try looking for the old Micro Machine toys they done a very nice Alien queen also Pendraken do a fantastic dog Aliens from the 3rd movie although they are 10mm scale they still fit in with 15mm ranges, and lastly the old Aliens board game also had several funky two headed Aliens and another very nice looking queen all good for a 15mm brood . :) zac

They are nice! But I say we nuke them from orbit: it's the only way to be sure.

I assume there are four "units" of Aliens in your photograph.

How do you distinguish between the four units during play, and maintain "command and control" between the various figures?

The figures and bases are almost indistinguishable in the photograph.

They look great, but do they operate as individuals or in units?

think you've done really nice work with them. problem with those guys is there's just a few, pretty bland poses ….

Oh strange i was looking at my QRF Packs of SF 1/2 marines today and thinking about there not aliens!

Nicely painted btw :)

I curently use Pendraken aliens. Of which one squad is painted blue and the other purple to help with identifaction :)

Here are two pictures of the Pendraken ones not the best of pictures but give a good idea on size in the second picture :)

@ dBerczerk: Depending on the game, unit size can vary. When I've have used these in the past, I have usually let the groups be fluid and join with other groups as the player wants or they groups are not really close to each other so it is easy to tell the groups apart. I could always paint a small color dot on the back of the base to define units if it were needed. My thinking is that they don't have solid formations or units and are flexible in their unit cohesion.

I have looked at the Pendraken models in the past. I do like the way they look. I have also thought about throwing in a few GW Genestealers in as big beasts.

Glad you all like them.

‘Operation Aliens' and below are the plastic figures that are perfect for 15mm gaming and as I previously mentioned those funky two headed mutated alien warriors that I use for long ranged acid attacks against armoured vehicles.

Hi Sean, very cool, have you seen Khurasans Xenos? here are some I painted a few years ago, they are brilliant figures, with separate heads to give them more variety, they come in small medium and large sizes, with several head types, and there are even armed xenos.

AVAMANGO I forgot I also have those plastic Aliens as well now where did I put them!

The old metal GW Hormagaunts are very Alien looking and with 15mm are a good size for a larger Alien but not quite Queen size!

Oh and gunner I do like the use of the gloss on your figures :)

erraticassassin08 Jul 2014 12:52 p.m. PST

The QRF minis aren't bad sculpts, but as a personal preference Khurasan's Space Demons are much nicer. Plus, they come with separate heads, which are nice for conversion purposes.

I have a bunch of Pendraken 10mm aliens in my painting pile; just queens at the moment, but I might add some other types at some point. I figure the 10mm queens could be immature queens in 15mm, as squad leader analogues.

Great links! I have Space Demons and a few of Pendraken aliens. I use the Pendraken "queens" to be super-heavy warriors (Praterians/Royal Guard from the video games) and some the other, smaller bugs as juvenile xenos.

khurasanminiatures08 Jul 2014 5:42 p.m. PST

Bodyguard Space Demons is actually an interesting idea….

Of course if you really, really, REALLY want to keep the queen safe….

AVAMANGO08 Jul 2014 5:46 p.m. PST

Here's the Micro machines alien queen, shes a good size and still pretty easy to pick up on E-Bay. I use the ones i have as princesses which in my games are the equivalent to a amroured vehicle, the only problem is would a queen allow them to be in her brood or banish even kill them as soon as possible???

khurasanminiatures08 Jul 2014 5:56 p.m. PST

If I made bodyguards what sort of head should they have?

AVAMANGO08 Jul 2014 6:06 p.m. PST

The alien warriors you produce have the ridged heads and in the Aliens film all be it only for a brief glimpse the alien guards guarding the egg chamber also have the same prominent ridged heads. Personally i don't think another head variant is needed but if you want to do one why not go down the old Kenner Alien toy route and do something like this head with barbs.

Great stuff guys. I will have to check out all the various options you have shown me.

@khurasanminiatures: I like the barbed head idea. Alternatively maybe an armour plate like the queens, but smaller. So leave the model the same size as the regular xenomorphs, but with the plated head of the queen.

Glenn M25 Aug 2014 5:37 p.m. PST

I like the boar alien actually, it'd be a good one.

What about this?

Maybe about the 25mm size?

@Glenn M, that makes my biologist side think about a creature that digs. Convergent evolution…

To any manufactures listening: make something like Glenn M has linked, and I will give you stacks of money. Well, lots of money. Some money, anyway. Just get 'em made. :)
